Doom II: Hell on whatever the hell this place is called

“So, we are back with Doom Guy, eh Marcie?”

“I don't get it. From the three stories engin has put up two have a female protagonist! Why the fuck do we need to do a follow up with this asshole?”

“I think she might be upset that we considered Doom not the most evil protagonist and wants to prove otherwise.”

READING IN PROGRESS (BGM)

“Alright first off, Marcie. I have no fucking clue who all these fucks are.”

“Yes, albeit we can't blame engin for this. Reading a story with that many characters is bound to be an issue if you take such huge gaps between chapters.”

“Bah, I can still recount all the characters from King Edward! There is Edward and Kara and uh..Madeline. Engin just sucks at names.”

“So, anyways. Last time we let off Doom was just about to die.”

“That sure as shit went to nowhere.”

“Hm yes, we ended the chapter with Doom very gravely injured but he just heals himself and is fine again. As such Doom proceeds with his plan and addresses his troops.”

"Soon the capital will be empty and ripe for the taking, I do not expect major resistance, but we should not let our guard down, especially since once we take Saluma we will then have to hold it when the capital's armies return. If we lose too much in this fight, I don't believe we'll stand a chance at holding this place against the full might of the capital army. So, we must strike fast, strike hard and take no unnecessary risks," he announces and there's cheers from the assembled soldiers.

“That's the worst fucking rallying cry ever. Who the fuck gets hyped with this shit?”

“Doom and his army advance on the capital. With a trick they open the gate and fierce urban fighting ensues.”

“Then they free some dragons, who where the actual rulers or something like that.”

“Ah, classic mistake. When you take over a Kingdom it is imperative that you purge the ruling dynasty.”

“With Dragon Boy in tow they manage to overwhelm the palace, defeat some weird goddess and enter the throne room for the final fight.”

“If the actual writing weren't any better this could have been conjured up by unkown.”

“Whoa, Marcie. That's low, even for you.”

“Everything about this scene is absurd! The Royal family sits on their thrones while Cara and Raig fight the kings bodyguards one on one.”

“Raig is the dragon, right?”

“Right. Doom's team wins. Doom slaps the King out of the throne and takes his place.”

“And with that Doom has conquered his first country. Congratulations, you evil fuck.”

“Indeed, this is without a doubt Doom's finest hour.”

Doom exited the room and indeed found Raig, fully healed and sitting on the king's throne. The other two thrones had been removed. Croya and Ina are kneeling in front of Raig and both are happily playing with his cock, taking turns sucking on the head, while the other licks the shaft and base. Maja and Lara are here as well, just kneeling on either side of his throne and watching Ina and Croya enviously.

“I am more concerned with the fact that Doom neglected to set up a proper hierarchy, so Raig just claims his kingdom. That is a pretty grave mistake on Doom's part.”

“What a wretched situation. After all everybody remembers that ill fated roman campaign where Gaius Terentius Varro and Lucius Amellius Paullus where both in charge of the same army.”

“Cough. Anyway, it is certainly not an ideal position to be in. Especially since now the kingdoms armies are coming back to the capital.”

“But Doom and friends have a plan: They use the royal family as hostages to get the armies to surrender!”

“It is not a bad notion. If the main goal is to diminish the enemies moral, this will undoubtedly have an effect.”

“Yeah, too bad Doom screws it over.”

“He receives a mental note that one his allies has most likely died. This stresses him out so much that he kills the king and orders his slaves to attack.”

“So, now he suddenly fucking cares about his slaves! The hell is wrong with that bipolar bitch! Doom? More like Mood!”

“While the forces of Doom managed to hold off the army, this is where things take a turn for the worse. People are silently turning against him. He still doesn't sort out the situation with Raig and the royal family gets rescued.”

“Before that we need to get on a bit of a tangent. There is this Goddess that Doom beat, but not really and she gives him a warning.”

“Or MAD, I wonder why she feels the need to explain the concept to a soldier?”

“Bah! So Alka something is conquering shit like crazy and because Doom is an inept hack he has no counter.”

There has to be something we can do. You're a strategist, you have to have something?" Doom asks desperately and she sighs.

“This is just getting bizarre. Doom was in the military. As we learn he had quite the high rank. It is odd that he displays such...such...”

“Not how I would have worded it but fitting.”

“So what is Doom's past? Turns out he wasn't a war criminal after all just your average serial ****. He killed about a dozen women.”

“And I wanted him so much to be a war criminal. Now the last BGM I used is completely ruined!”

“I do like the part where they reinstated the **** penalty just to get him killed.”

“We are getting a very interesting subversion of this trope here. Doom tells his dark bachstory to one of his subordinates he is rather close. But instead of getting understanding and reassurance the girls is horrified by what she learns.”

“I mean, no shit sherlock.”

“You would be surprised how rare something like this is. Especially what happens later. Doom proceeds to **** and kill her.”

“There is really no mistake her that Doom is a complete monster, right? Like, even the most asshole protagonists usually don't kill the hot girls.”

“Indeed. Meanwhile, Alka is about to attack the capital. The forces of Doom make a final stand. It does not go well.”

“Dragon boy and his girlfriends get slaughtered! Pretty much everyone dies. Except Doom. The fucker just escapes like the little shit he is.”

“At this point, Doom has pretty much lost everything. He is back at the starting point and spends his time killing low level monsters so he can get his HP back up.”

“Meanwhile, the last current chapter is just a **** row, where everyone either succumbs to their wounds or gets executed. Great! Lovely!”

“Some stuff here is a bit too heavy handed for my taste. In particular Isidora's final moments.”

“Who?”

“On the other hand, the end of Olivia's path was handled very well. We didn't really touch upon Ursa and Olivia and their fate, but it is quite haunting.”

“Yeah, too bad engin ruins it with a fucking joke!”

“That left a sour taste in my mouth as well. It is a powerful chapter, don't dilute it.”

“What a strange, fucking story! Doom just keeps fucking up! I would enjoy his dumb fuckery, but too man cute girls die in the process. Who the fuck gets off at this?

“It is quite strage. It almost feels a bit like a deconstruction of the Isekai genre.”

“I dunno Marcie. Isn't this just your average setback? Even fucking Dark Lord had one of these.”

“This one had a lot more people dying though. And Doom is a lot more unlikable then Fred.”

“Fred is likable?”

“I...didn't say that. My point is, Doom is supposed to be unlikable. And in that regard he is strangely unique.”

“Bullshit. We had plenty of scumbag protagonists before..”

“Quite. But having a scumbag protagonist isn't the same as being unlikable. Usually these types of protagonists have something that makes them endearing to the reader. Even if it is something extremely base like a power fantasy.”

“That's not endearing at all!”

“But Doom doesn't have any of that. He is powerful, granted, but these chapters where basically a colossal amalgamation of his failings. All the while Engin is hitting us over the head with a sledgehammer, screaming how horrific he is. It is a bit like masturbating to Hitler **** Eva Braun in the final days of World War II.”

“To sum it up, there really is nothing about Doom the reader can latch on to.”

“Ok, then what about these scenes where Doom all of a sudden cares about someone?”

“I have a theory about that. I think we are dealing with a multiple personality disorder. That would explain why Destiny's name writing didn't work.”

“ok.”

“There is also a line in chapter 30, which if it means what I think it does was very smooth.”

“You do realize nobody who reads this has any idea what the fuck you are on about, right?”

“Well, engin does.”

“Uhu.”

“If I had to bring up one criticism, I believe Doom's downfall should have been drawn out longer.”

“Damn right, I want the fucker to suffer!”

“In the chapters we read this time there was a certain sense of haste, which I didn't feel was present in the initial batch. Because of this, Doom's downfall still feels a bit like a temporary setback, despite the colossal amount of deaths.”

“Another reason to not learn any of these names.”

“But with that said, I like what engin is going for here. It is a story that goes against the grain. As much as I like redemption stories. It is a bit of a long hanging fruit, wouldn't you say?”

“Yes, grains. Super interesting, but can we wrap this up anytime soon?”

“Yes, I believe we sufficiently covered this part. Any last remarks, Gina?”
