Don’t poke a lion
Abby was about ready to skin one of these skanks alive. They were one of the “popular girls” groups. The leader was old money old power with her flunkies who stayed in her orbit for the easy clout and protection. Like a lot of conflict I young adults this was driven by that oldest of incentives, reproduction. The leader of this group had decided to try her luck at poaching a man of significant personal power but limited social standing. While not remarkable in any way personally she had apparently used her family’s money and connections to deck herself and her pawns out in fancy accessories and clothing.
“Come on old lady we just think he should know he has the option to upgrade.” The leader sneered to Abbigail, abusing the social contract to spit venom while minimizing her actual personal risk. “And I tell you to get lost, he doesn’t need you or your families so called favor Jezibell.”
Abby had her back gently pressed to Mich, she could feel his ridged stance and her matrix was by now saturated in his man. She was mentally cursing this stupid brat who had decided to open her proposition to Mich by calling Jess his guard mule. Michael had not reacted to the slander of his first love well at all and Abby was now praying he held it together.
While there was no law saying that a man could not turn his magic on a woman it was one of those social taboos that was just known. The destructive power a strong mage could unleash was kept restrained for a good reason and now this stupid cunt was actively poking a bomb. Jess, get back here quick before I have to flatten this idiot to keep Mich from killing someone.
Fortunately it looked like her prayers had been answered as motion from over over the heads of the interlopers heralded the arrival of Jessica. The big woman waisted no time as she had a bit of history with this entitled girl in the past.
Jess didn’t bother waisting words. Reaching out she grabbed her rival by the back of the neck and the belt , picked her up, and with a spin to build momentum removed her from the aria via a ballistic trajectory. With the instigator and leader removed her flunkies decided it was better to go recover their boss than continue to push her advances on Mich.
“Wow Jess. I think you almost got her to the lake.” Storm called out looking over the crowd to the unfortunate girls landing point. Jess wasn’t listening as she stomped over to Abby who wad Mich wrapped up and the two sandwiched the sheathing mage between them. “Storm, Jun get over here.” The now curious women stepped over to the two Amazons wrapped around their man. As they passed an invisible threshold both nearly stumbled as they felt the roiling and surging mana. Jun nearly stumbled as her body reacted to the sudden exposure and Storm sucked in a breath at the surge of power into her matrix.
“Shit, shit, shit, shit.” The two newcomers jumped in wrapping themselves into the pile around the berry pissed of mage. This was one of the dangers for mages. Mana was tied to a mental state, and sudden strong emotions could cause a cascade reaction with serious consequences if not contained. Fortunately, the Amazons matrix cold some up the excess mana allowing the mage time to get himself under control. Over the next several minutes the four women sponged up the roiling mana radiating of Mich as he breathed through his rage desperately working to get himself under control.
