I haven’t seen this icon since I opened the app for the first time, when it corrupted me and made me eager to use my newfound power for perverted purposes. I instantly press on it. My curiosity had become too consuming for anything else.

This time, the help option leads me to a page that is perhaps amusingly normal. It is simply a chat box, similar to what I had previously seen in texting or online tech support. There, I immediately read the text.

When targets receive the LifeQuest app, they begin to find the app immistakably alluring. This process intensifies with time, and it only intensifies when they are assigned a class. Riley took perhaps less time to reach this point than others would, but her response was otherwise typical.

God, I'm such an idiot. The surface level explanation is largely the correct one. I spent three days brainstorming and over-thinking for no reason. Relieved that there doesn't appear to be any deeper sinister meaning I missed, I type "Thank You".

While we appreciate your schemes and your attempt to plan carefully, ensure that this instinct works to heighten action rather than to stifle it.

P.S. We have been quite happy with your progress on Riley. That being said, monogamy is so outdated. Perhaps you should scout other targets. We wouldn't object to you completing the set, if you know what we mean.

My heart immediately sinks. For days now, I had apparently been committing a cardinal indiscretion in the eyes of a near omnipotent app. At least this mistake should be relatively easy to avoid in the future. Immediately, I craft my response:

Nervously, I hit enter. Will QuestMaster accept my deal, or will they immediately vaporize me for my insolence? I could see both as likely possibilities. In my quest to become interesting, I may have immediately spelled my own doom. Not helping my anxieties is the fact that QuestMaster is taking noticeably more time to answer then it ever had previously. Unlike seemingly all my previous interactions with the app, this appears to genuinely shatter the illusion of its omnipotence. After approximately 60 seconds of waiting (about 59 more seconds then I expected) I see a response.

I let out a sigh of relief. I'm glad QuestMaster wasn't offended at least. It's definitely strange though, the fact QuestMaster couldn't come to a decision suggests its closer to an organization with competing parts, rather than an AI or a deity. I can't focus on that now though. I have to do something entertaining, and I have a good idea about how to accomplish that goal without being too reckless.

I immediately create a new anonymous email address . Next, I send an email to Riley, with the subject "IMPORTANT". Of course, the text of the email was only a few words long:
