Chapter 4 by princessdood princessdood

Where does Andrew go?

Do some testing in the coffee shop.

Maybe it would be good to test this around strangers, first. Nobody wants some "monkey's paw" bullshit to get traced back to them.

Andrew thinks twice about the water park rules.

What's "bizarre?" How lewd is "lewd?"

He thinks of a few examples that would disturb him. He also thinks of a couple of things that would *kill* him.

He tries something risky for this coffee shop:

"Old Rule: The coffee shop is a very popular place to bring your children."

"Old Rule: The coffee shop is a very popular place to have sex."

He feels a bit dizzy as everything around him changes jarringly fast.

The first thing he notices is a children's play area supervised by a couple of baristas. The next thing he notices is a walled-off area with a door that is covered in warnings and disclaimers, the most obvious of which forbid children from entering.

He also notices that the prices here just tripled.

...OK. The Rulebook didn't accidentally create psychotic behavior or wild changes in social norms. The world adapts.

But Andrew doesn't remember seeing this coffee shop design, either. He only remembers his own past, no matter how hard he tries.

He is briefly happy that he isn't erasing himself by accident, but he also worries a little about creating situations where he seems lost and insane.

Should Andrew practice more before going to work?
