Disaster strikes

We had been in the sky for about five minutes when Kendra noticed something, “Man I hope these clouds don’t ruin a perfect day.”

You had checked the weather report before flying and it said a clear day. You reassured them as you said, “Might just be a little cloud coverage but I saw that it is a sunny day otherwise.”

Boy were you wrong as the sky darkened and it got significantly cooler.

“I’m a bit scared, you two…can we signal to come back down now?” Jackie asked with a look of fear while trying to smile.

“No I agree…That’s a great idea,” you say as you try to let him know through the walkie-talkie to bring us down. He doesn’t respond and to make matters worse it is getting much windier and it’s even starting to rain. Thunder is crashing in the darkened sky and the occasional flash of lightning has your heart pounding. You look down and see large white caps near the boat as the ocean is no longer as peaceful as it once. Suddenly, you feel a strong tug on the rope as well as losing all acceleration as you three begin to slowly descend.

“Oh my gawd! We’re gonna crash into the water,” Kendra screeched out as Jackie silently prayed for a miracle. You refuse to let yourself or either of them die as you fiddle with the rope and eventually get the lock undone. The parachute is no longer being dragged down as drastically but you are still floating down you attempt to use the straps as you try to potentially fly you closer to land but a gust of wind turns you further into the ocean.

(Shit! It can’t end like this…) you think as you see the two women staring at you and hoping you have a plan.

“Alright ladies! I can’t get us back closer to land but once we hit the water undo your belts and hang onto to each other tightly. This is our best chance at survival especially in these conditions and our life vests should help greatly,” you say without an ounce of fear or worry in your voice. The parachute slowly descended into the darkened water below and all three of you took off your belts and huddled together to ride out the storm. Waves and water kept pelting the three to you but your triangular formation was working well.

“Oh shit! Hang on tight!” Kendra said pointing at a huge wave.

“Take a deep breath, ladies!” You say as you shove your hands into the handles of their life jacket before being pummeled by a huge wave and feeling yourself go **** thinking this was the end for you.
