Diplomacy

As much an eyeful as the boy was you were worried. You were upside down and battered. Your god never granted you much in the way of martial might. You gulped hard as the weird being watched you. What was he?

The boy was quite alien, his form unlike anything you had ever seen. Instead of muscle he had what looked like vines interlaced. His whole body looked like it was barely held together. He watched you with solid purple eyes. No pupils or anything like a human. Just solid purple.

It took a moment before the god of yours jumped in. "I know this one. He is a god. Maybe not on my level but enough to any mortal." This was not a comfort.

"Is he friendly? Would seducing him even work? What is he a god of? Will he kill me?" Your questions were frantic as you felt like you were going to become lunch soon.

"I... do not know. He never liked the company of gods much." This was probably the worst situation you could be in. Your guide was speechless and you were helpless. Your mind was racing. Maybe trying to just talk to him would help. Could not make matters much worse.

"Oh... lord? Sir, I am but a simple servant of the heavens." Your voice was timid initially. Not like you wanted to offend him. Acting too brash was sure to get you killed. "A divine mission from the god of love brought me out here."

You danced a line between kissing up and respect. That was also an offensive you sought to avoid. "If you I will never darken your doorstep. Or swamp." There was a look of curiosity in his eyes. At least as far as you could tell.

You looked towards him with pleading eyes. Your hands clasped together almost as if in prayer. At least if he was hungry he would have ate you by now. Small miracles. Then again, cats like to play with their food. That was a thought you really did not wish to entertain. Both you and love god hoped this appeal would work.
