Dinner guests

The morning goes by quickly, with you and Mazzy keeping your hands mostly to yourselves. She busies herself in the kitchen, preparing a meal you know nothing about, beyond the fact that the centerpiece is a delicious looking ham. When she isn’t preparing something, Mazzy makes a point of being close, either snuggled on the couch, or simply nearby. Far from feeling clingy, it feels more like you’re making up for not having met each other sooner.

Early in the afternoon, she’s sitting on your lap as you browse the internet, showing her music videos you like and funny clips from movies and television. The house smells wonderful, the scent from the kitchen is intoxicating. Mazzy is watching the latest video you’ve put on as you hear a knock at your door, startling both of you.

You chuckle, patting her leg. “That must be Dave and Lisa. You ready for this?”

Mazzy hops off your lap. “Of course! How do I look?”

You smile as you look at her. She’s dressed casually, a simple shirt and a pair of shorts, and as always she looks incredible. “Beautiful as always.”

Mazzy blushes slightly, and follows you to the front door. You take a breath, then open up, finding Dave and Lisa, as expected. They’re both smiling, and you wave them inside.

Dave, as usual, is dressed casually as well. You don’t think you’ve ever seen him in anything other than jeans and a t-shirt. He’s taller and broader than you, but his size is always offset by his friendly smile and calm demeanor. He’s a friendly, happy guy, which probably helped him win over Lisa.

Lisa, meanwhile, is the classic girl next door. Wearing a knee length floral dress, with her brunette hair tied back in a ponytail, she exudes the same friendliness as Dave. Her most outstanding feature, however, are her sparkling green eyes. Though average height for a woman, she always seems small next to her husband, but she’s hardly in his shadow. Her vibrant personality makes her the center of attention regardless.

Lisa gives you a hug. “It’s good to see you again, Brian!”

You smile as you separate. “You too, Lisa.”

The two of them turn towards Mazzy, who actually looks quite nervous. You reach down and take her hand, giving it a comforting squeeze. “Well…this is Mazzy.”

Mazzy smiles. “Hello! That’s me!”

Lisa reacts first clasping her hands and smiling. “Oh my, you’re really pretty! Brian is a very lucky guy!”

You chuckle. “You have no idea.”

Dave laughs. “Maybe some ideas…but I don’t want to embarrass the poor girl too much. Hello, miss Mazzy, I’m Dave.”

Mazzy giggles. “Don’t worry, you won’t embarrass me! I can tell you exactly how lucky Brian is if you like!”

Now it’s your turn to blush, as both Lisa and Dave burst out laughing. Mazzy winks, giving you a playful grin. Lisa catches the gesture, and leans down to whisper loudly to Mazzy.

“Maybe we can share tips later, new ideas are always fun!”

Mazzy nods excitedly, still giggling. Dave gives you an amused look. “These two are going to be trouble together.”

You laugh. “You say that like it’s a bad thing.”

Dave grins. “Not at all! Mazzy, as Lisa said, you’re lovely, and it’s a pleasure to meet you. I think I’m already jealous of Brian here!”

Lisa smacks him, though she’s smiling as well. Mazzy shrugs. “There’s plenty of monster girls at the AWIO, if you are willing to sponsor! We don’t mind sharing our mates, but we’re loyal to them.”

Lisa and Dave share a look, and you’re a little surprised by their smile. Dave clears his throat. “That’s…we’ll actually talk about it later. For now, what is it that smells so wonderful? I already know Brian can’t cook worth a damn.”

Mazzy’s face lights up. “Ooh, it should be almost done!”

You chuckle. “Come on in then, we’ll chat over dinner.”
