“I’m sorry,” he said. “Mr Yawena and his team approached me. They knew we had talked and he wanted to scrub my phone. He didn’t explain why, and I let him do it.”
“You… what?” Alexa said, feeling betrayed. “Those pictures were private.”
“I didn’t know that he took them,” Devon said.
“But why didn’t you say anything earlier?” Alexa asked.
“I…I couldn’t,” Devon said. “I signed a contract saying I wouldn’t say anything.”
Michelle grabbed Devon by the collar and slammed him against the wall. “You better explain quickly because I’m getting angry,” she said.
“Alexa, please come here,” Carol called out.
Alexa nodded as she left Devon and Michelle alone. “So, we’re offering $5 million dollars, I will step down from CEO,” Mr Yawena said. “You will be granted an executive position within the company, higher than what you originally were.”
“What position?” Alexa asked.
“You will be the Head of Technology ,” Yawena said. “Do you accept these terms?”
“Yes,” Alexa said, shaking Mr Yawena’s hand.
Mr Yawena adjusted his tie and then left. Alexa didn’t know how to feel. She didn’t exactly get an answer, but she figured she already knew what the reasoning was. The others hugged her while a disheveled Devon re-entered the room.
