Delta works on the furnaces

“Be polite, smile, follow instructions.” Delta reminded herself over and over.

“What are you mumbling about, girl?” Asked a tiny gremlin elbow deep in the grease of the furnace under the baths. “Never mind that, keep wrenching!”

While her temporary boss was busy in the innards of the machine, Kim was outside, near the fire, turning valves and securing nuts. She was working up quite the sweat in the hot place.

Black smoke bellowed from the bowels of the contraption. The gremlin coughed and cleaned the soot out of his orange face. “Dangit, the pipe busted! We are losing water. I need something to plug the leak and absorb the spill.”

“Be polite,” echoed in Delta’s head. What could be more polite than giving the gremlin something to help fix the engine? A piece of cloth, like her Kimono! “Here!” Delta untied her kimono. “Use my dress!” Folding it over her hands, Kim gave her dress to the gremlin, or she tried to. The garment disappeared as soon as it left her fingers.

“Uh, what?”

“Oh no! That’s so impolite! Here, take my panties instead.” With one hand over her crotch, she tossed her underwear to her boss. It also disappeared.

“Is this a human prank or something?”

Delta gulped. “O-ok. In that case, let’s try my bra.” Turning around to avoid giving the gremlin a peek at anything but her back and bottoms, Delta unclasped her bra and tossed it behind her. It didn’t last long.

“Girl, the hell are you doing?”

The boss seemed annoyed, but why? Delta had been super polite! Wait, no! Being naked at her job is the opposite of polite! It’s downright rude! She was failing the original Kim! “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get naked!”

“You didn’t mean to get naked, even though you removed all your clothes? …You aren’t very bright, aren’t you?”

“Please, what can I do to make it up to you?”

“Uhhhh. You can try bringing me some tape to plug the leak? I think I saw a roll on the top shelf of the maintenance closet in the casino.”

“All right boss, right away!”

“Wait, are you going to go out there like that?”

“Yes!” Delta replied with a smile as she strode confidently outside the engine room.
