Chapter 13 by JackKinnoph JackKinnoph

She didn’t want to see so much as a firework after this...

Defused (Good End)

Wasting no time, Tex set about unearthing the mad bomber. She had indeed been made into a lion carpet beneath. Tex pitied her a bit. She really hoped that she never met a similar fate.

Nevertheless, the sheriff peeled her back up off the floor. She was breathing but out cold. Tex looked over her oddly flattened form, and stripped off any weapons she had on her, checking every inch, before cuffing her. Tex looked over her work, and then left her there. She had some explaining to do to the train conductor.

...

The citizens of Gold Springs cheered as they saw their brave sheriff escorting the failed gold thief to the town jail. Word had spread after she informed the conductor, and made her way back.

Marian, for her part, was docile. “Not bad, sheriff. Guess the rumors were wrong. You’re worth your salt.”

“Don’t flatter me, ya rascal. Ya tried to steal our gold, and tried to kill me several times over!” Tex shoved her. “All over a couple gold bars. Well the only bars you’ll be seein’ are cell bars.”

“Fortune favors the bold…” She chuckled. “I’m sure you’ll be shipping me back home. Do remember me after I go, eh, sheriff?”

Tex rolled her eyes. “I’ll never forget you after all that…”

And so, Marian spent some time in Gold Springs’ jail, before being carted off to state prison. She was no native to the town, and had time to serve elsewhere. Horse theft and theft of dangerous devices were not to be taken lightly there, or anywhere. Besides, Tex needed the space for the local mischief. She could serve her time back home. And thus the busty bomber had her brief reign of terror snuffed out.

...for now.
