Chapter 12 by JackKinnoph JackKinnoph

The best way to bring her down was to…

Toss Some Dynamite!

Tex struck a match, and leapt at her, one hand out, catching the lioness by surprise. Her face turned utterly crimson, and so did Tex’s. “Wha... are you… did you…”

Tex… had grabbed the bandit on her breast! “Ah. How unbecoming of me…” She tipped her hat in shame. Then, she pulled back, taking with her one of the sticks off of Marian’s bandoleer, lighting it up quite dexterously.

“Hey! You’re annoying, and a pervert as well, huh? What are you gonna do? Blow us both to high heaven?” She glared at the sheriff, as the fuse sparked away in her hand.

“No. I ain’t even gonna blow you up. Much as you deserve it…” Tex spoke confidently, though even in control, she didn’t feel all that comfortable with a lit bomb in hand. “But I’m gonna take you down and bring ya to justice!”

Backing up and winding up for a swing, she threw the burning dynamite right at Marian. Of course, being a dynamite slinger herself, she handily ducked it, as it landed uselessly behind a gold stack. The lioness couldn’t help but laugh.

“You’re pathetic, Tex. And I just noticed…” The lioness rapidly shot her hand forward, and lifted the sheriff up by the coat. “You don’t even have your gun on ya. You’ve. Lost!” She sneered.

“Ngh… Marian… let me go… if ya know what’s good for ya…” Tex struggled, her legs kicking weakly.

“I should just finish ya right now. But we’re still in the tunnel for a couple more minutes. And I’d be remiss not to use them to punish a weasel who’s been a pain in the pants every inch of the way.” She holstered her gun, and reached for a stick of the explosives she loved oh so much. “It’s been a blast, Tex…”

“No… it will be though.” Tex pulled her legs up to her torso, and covered her ears with her hands.

“Wha-?” Marian had no time to respond.

BOOOOOOM!!!

Tex’s well-placed throw paid off. The stick exploded behind the stack, sending it toppling forward, right towards a certain lioness who was holding her aloft. Marian let her go, trying to turn around. Tex crashed to the ground, her balled up position protecting her more vital zones as heavy metal rained down near her.

After the clanging was done, only the roaring of the train remained. When she uncurled, she saw a lion hand, now flattened to the floor, under a pile of gold bars. The car was illuminated once again as it cleared the tunnel, and though it was messy, the actual car looked no worse for wear. Tex took off her hat and wiped her brow, letting out a deep sigh. “These cases are starting to get too close for my liking...”

She didn’t want to see so much as a firework after this...
