"Sure!" she said readily. "I can make something, or-"

"Let's go out." He brusquely interrupted her. She agreed with a laugh.

"God, this is incredible!" Jane exclaimed, and gave him a twirl. "Before today if you had cut me off like that I would have been livid! But I just don't care at all. No, that's not even true. I liked it!"

She was starting to get a sense of the enormity of the change. He watched with fascination as she paced across the bedroom, still clad in just a towel, working through the ramifications aloud.

"I'll never get mad at anyone again! Nothing anyone says or does to me will upset me or piss me off or make me unhappy! Jesus Christ, this is like some kind of curse or superpower or something. I mean, how am I gonna function without being able to get mad at people?"

Although he knew the question was rhetorical, Ryan answered anyway. "As we discovered earlier, you still have your moral compass and self-presentation instincts. If I asked you to slit your wrists right now, would you do it?"

She stopped pacing and turned to him. "...no? I guess not, because then I would probably die, and I don't want to die." She explored the train of thought like she was a stranger in her own mind. "I don't want to die. Why not? I'm not afraid of **** anymore, obviously, and it won't be unpleasant. But if I die then my experiences will come to an end and the people who love me will grieve my passing. So, no, I wouldn't slit my own wrists even if you asked me to. It would cause others to suffer and it would put an end to my amazing new life."

"See? You'll go through life joyful and pain-free, but you won't just let yourself be taken advantage of by anyone with a request. That said, you'll find a lot of requests palatable that you wouldn't have before." He grinned impishly. "For example, drop that towel and give me a sexy pose."

Jane thought about it, then dropped the towel. She spread out across the bed in a classic cheesecake pose and flashed him a sultry smile. "You're right," she said. "I don't mind this at all. It's not hurting anybody and it makes you happy, so I wanna do it." Changing poses, she leaned forward and cupped her breasts. "It feels good knowing I'm making you happy. Of course, everything feels good." She laughed at that and Ryan smiled too.

"So," he asked, "Where do you want to go?"

She had a sudden realization. "You want to go out to take this new setup for a public test drive, don't you? You wanna see how the amazing new Jane does in a restaurant?" He nodded and she continued. "Me too! Man, eating is gonna be amazing. And you know I'll pick up the tab. Ooh, let's get sushi!"

He looked her over one last time. "You'd better get dressed." She hopped off the bed and went to the closet.
