John made his way through the halls of the Academy, him reaching his destination would not be blocked by anybody. John ducked, dipped, and dodged his way through the crowded halls as the students went to and fro from their lockers to classrooms or vice versa. After a brisk walk, John reached his destination: the classroom of Mrs. Wentworth.

John opened the door and made his way past the few students that were in the classroom waiting for class to start. Mrs. Wentworth was engrossed in some paperwork so John assumed she did not see him. He was wrong.

“Come to my office, Mr. Newman, we will discuss your grade problem there,” still concentrating on the paperwork she was completing, “Go on, I’ll be there in a minute or so.”

“Yes, Mrs. Wentworth,” replied a John who kept walking past her desk and into her office. John waited for about a minute and a half before Mrs. Wentworth entered the room. John felt the familiar change of entering a barrier, and figured Mrs. Wentworth wanted some privacy for their conversation.

“You’ve done well Mr. Newman. Both in servicing me and apparently that cute little maid of Miss Brighton.” John’s face contorted into a confused look, not entirely sure how Mrs. Wentworth knew about what John did with Anwyn. “Why do you make that look? What did you think I had you place in their home? A good luck charm? It was a spy rune, Mr. Newman. But do not worry, that rune’s creation is far too complex for even the Order’s crafters to realize who made it or what its function is. Now, I’m sure you’re here for your reward, even though one could say that tryst with the maid was a reward in and of itself, no?” said a smiling Mrs. Wentworth as she went around John and to her desk.

Once she was at her desk, Mrs. Wentworth once again pulled out an item from inside the drawer. What she pulled out and placed on the desk was not at all what John expected.

“An…egg? I risked my life to place a spy rune and all I get is an egg? What am I supposed to do with that, make a really good omelet?” asked a once again angry John. He was taken advantage of yet again, or so he thought.

“This is no ordinary egg, Mr. Newman,” said a rather annoyed Mrs. Wentworth, “This is the last egg of a dragon clan that was wiped out by that Order you are now protected by. I will admit, with what that clan was doing, wiping them out was probably for the best. Either way, during the battle, I was able to procure this egg. I have thought about hatching and raising it, but I would not be able to devote the time needed for its care. After what I saw you do last night, perhaps you are better suited for that task. Now, let us leave,” said Mrs. Wentworth as she got up from her seat and walked to the door. John quickly placed the egg into his inventory, which allowed Mrs. Wentworth to close the barrier and the two exited her office. John bid his farewell to Mrs. Wentworth and left the classroom.

Item received: Last Egg of the Skyreavers

“Huh. A dragon egg. Wonder how I hatch it?” thought John before he took it out of his inventory and gave it a quick Observe.

Last Egg of the Skyreavers
Legendary Item
The last egg of the dragon clan Skyreavers, who were wiped out by an allied Abyssal ****. It is not close to hatching.

“So I need to keep the egg around me? Since it didn’t seem to get any closer to hatching while in Mrs. Wentworth’s desk, I don’t think it’ll hatch while in my inventory. I can make barriers now, so maybe I can sit in a barrier during my free period with it out? I mean, I got nothing to lose by doing that,” decided John as he made his way to the free room. He chose a seat towards the back. John then activated Instant Barrier and watched as the room shifted to reflect him now being in the Abyss. John placed the reddish brown egg onto the table. He then looked around and saw another, unknown person in his barrier. The girl quickly got up and looked around, and spotted John.

“Oh, um hi? I didn’t expect anyone else to be trapped in this barrier. I apologize for getting you caught in it,” John said to the angry girl. He quickly cast Observe on her to prepare in case the whole situation went south.

Great, another god damn person that's stronger than me! thought John, who was really tired of being the weakest one around.

“You are the one that is part of the Golden Order, correct?” Kim asked in a calm voice.

“Oh, uh no. What makes you think that?” questioned John, Mrs. Wentworth’s words of knowledge being power ringed in his ears.

“I saw you enter a barrier she set up as well as leaving with her after school yesterday. You also have met with Mrs. Wentworth multiple times, so it is possible you are one of her agents as well,” explained Kim, her fierce eyes locked with John’s own eyes.

“Oh yeah I can see how you made that mistake. No, I’m not a member of the Golden Order. I am, however, allied with them,” John told Kim, hoping the mention of an alliance would protect him from this much stronger potential opponent.

“Hmm. Very well. If the Order has decided you are not a threat, then I shall defer to their judgment. But I must ask why you enacted this barrier.”

“Oh, well I just gained my powers yesterday so I figured I could use this time to train and understand them more.”

“I see. That makes sense because I doubt you wanted me to enter this barrier when you created it. You must learn to better control your barrier creation, which you’ll get over time with practice. Now I believe I’ll take my leave,” Kim stated as she turned and begun to walk back to her seat.

“Right, I’ll end this barrier and then create a new one and try not to get you caught in it.”

“That is not needed, your relative weak strength compared to mine makes it easy for me to leave your barrier. Go ahead and continue your training,” Kim said in such a tone that just rubbed John the wrong way. Once again, someone was talking down to him, calling him weak. She was yet another person who just cast him aside, believing him to be useless and helpless. She would be another one that he would show when he became stronger. One that would be **** to respect his power once he gained it.

“I see,” John said through clenched teeth, “I guess that’s the best case,” he said as Kim once again took her seat. She brought her hand up and begun to concentrate when suddenly a new pop up appeared.

Attention: 2 unknown persons have entered the barrier. They must be defeated before anyone can leave the barrier!

“What’s this? I seem to be unable to leave. How unusual,” Kim said out loud.

“Yeah, it seems that two people have entered my barrier and now it’s stating that nobody can leave until they are defeated,” John told Kim. Kim got up and walked over to John when suddenly the door to their classroom burst open and two girls stood at the entrance.

“Anata ga tadashī shimaidatta yō, ni miemasuga, kono shōheki wa chūmon no saishin no petto ni zokushimasu,” said one of the girl’s to the other, who John assumed was her sister on the account that they looked exactly alike. Japanese school girl twins, thought John. If they weren’t apparently enemies, John would have thought his dreams had come true.

“Watashitachi no shigoto o kanryō shi, kara o doroppu pointo ni tsurete ikimashou,” said the other before a gust of wind appeared behind the girls, launching the one that just talked towards Kim and John.
