Chapter 959 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Decide what to do next.

"Well, we have a week. Is there anything we can really do to prepare if we have no idea what's planned?" you wonder aloud. "I think for the most part, we're just gonna need to bide our time and wait for the fun to begin. Does anyone have any specific ideas?"

Those around the table look between each other for a moment. Finally, it's Nyllia who speaks up. "What about a date?"

Not missing a beat, Eva stands up with a surprised slap of her hands down upon the tabletop. "What?!"

"I'm not so sure this is time to jest, Lady Tesgella," Snow replies awkwardly.

"I do not jest," replies the elf. "If we are to wait a week for something unknown, it seems to be that sitting around will do nothing but grow our anxiety. If we wish not to worry, I think that we should spend more time together. Our Demon King, for example, could treat some of the lovely ladies here in Castle Phoenix to pleasant times out. Speak, share, and grow your bonds. Is that not what makes us mighty?"

What seemed to everyone as a joke or a strange suggestion as first has weirdly enough begun to grow on them the longer they ponder.

"Oh. I see," Eva says, sitting back down. "Then I accept your offer of a date, Kyle."

You try to reply. "I didn't--"

"Count me in!" Stax exclaims. "Plus, I have all sorts of suggestions for what we've got going on here, chief."

"Are you bothered?" Nyllia asks, turning her attention towards you.

"No," you say. "Of course not. Is that not what we're fighting for to begin with? To be able to live safely and free? Let's relax for a week. Spend some time together, like she said. Then we'll head to this so-called Sports Festival and kick the ass of whatever Elok Daven has in store for us."

Snow slowly raises her hand amidst the joyful celebration. "And uhm, I can help decide on who will remain here to defend the castle, if that's equally as important..."

"Relaax~!" Niki, who has somehow made it beside Snow without her noticing, perhaps surprised by the lack of the sound of metal on her body, or distracted by the occasion, rustles her hair and twiddles the kitty's soft ear between her fingers. "That can wait. For now, we gotta do what the big man says, right?"

"H-Hey!"

"For now, I'm going to end this meeting," you announce. "We'll stew on everything. If you have anything else to add, just come see me. Until then, take it easy, everyone."
