Dawn breaks

In the morning she was awakened by a few streaks of light that illuminated the cave, the fire nearly died out during the light. A few embers still smoldering. She was quick to add a few more of the remaining sticks and blew the fire back to life.

Taking the flatbread from her rations she heated it over the fire. Saving some for later she consumed the other half as an unsatisfying breakfast that would at least sustain her in the morning.

The dry bread without any toppings was quick to dwindle her water reserves, she would have to backtrack to her village empty-handed or find a means to replenish her supplies.. (She decides to backtrack but finds nothing)

Against better judgment, she decided to make her way back to town, while she hadn't discovered any source of food or water she knew that town would at least have what she'd need.
During her hike back there were no sources of water, and wildlife still showed no signs of its presence either..

Successfully making it back to town she went to her residency, replenishing the basics of her supply and packing up for at least a day or two this time around. She couldn't afford to return empty-handed again.. and knew that one side proved fruitless in her attempt to satisfy her needs..

[9] This time she went to the opposing side of the village without any delay she managed to make her way to the eastern side of the settlement. She would have to cross a river and drink some of her water before crossing, filling her flask to the brim so she'd have her best chances at making it deep into the wild.

[17] She made it far, the journey across the planes was one she'd taken numerous times if the forest proved scarce in its supply of both resources and.. 'volunteers' to copulate with. It wasn't the best place to hunt but it at least provided a clear view of your surroundings so it was easy to spot some of the small critters like rabbits or the bigger ones like deer and centaurs. There weren't many places for beasts and monsters to hide and she knew the further she traveled the more she would find.

[15] It didn't take her long to find something, a large masculine centaur, easily her size and more, its lower body alone about as tall her her own. They spotted one another at the same time. As it turned to face her, she could catch a glance at the package beneath its abdomen, leaving her no doubt in her mind about it being a male. The contents of its sack jostled, each easily the size of a small cantaloupe. It had the upper torso of a man, chiseled abs, and long back-length brown hair that paired nicely with the coat of his fur.

[7] While she had been ogling her prey the beastman had been quick to fire an arrow at her, fortunately for Niery it overshot her and landed harmlessly in the grass behind her. [5<10]

She knew centaurs would normally flee at the first signs of trouble unless they had other intentions.. The males of their kind were known to be territorial and would do anything to defend their claim, herd, or life. Considering the season it was likely defending a mate or in search of one, and if it managed to conquer her she'd be its breeding stock for the remainder of the season. If that were the case it'd be a goal the both of them shared.

She drew her daggers and attempted to close the gap, perhaps she could persuade it to spear her with something other than arrows.. if it was unwilling to listen she would need to get closer anyway to have any chance at winning the battle. [6>5] But as she attempted to dash an arrow aimed right in her path, with a shift sidestep she narrowly dodged impact, the arrow striking where her foot had been not a moment ago.

Recovering her balance she made another attempt to get in closer [6] but the Centaur trots back the same amount as her. As it is ready for another shot, she manages to get close [16], ducking underneath the arrow just in time for it to miss. [13 <18]

Now that shes up close she goes in for an attack of her own. She lunges with the first dagger, cleaving a thick cut into its leather armor and jabs with the other as it pierces through. [19 block 4] [6-4] [2 Dmg]
The centaur staggers, it hooves coming down upon Niery as it attempts to trample her but she uses her quick reaction to roll out of the way. [-1 Stamina]

Quick on her feet she attempts to make two slashes on his calf but as she attempts to make a cut the centaur pulls its hooves back for a kick, in the nick of time she bends her head back as the hooves nearly connect to her skull.
[Niery Atk 7<9. -1 stamina: Dodge NAT 20>20] She immediately recovers and makes another slash at the stallion but fails to deal any serious damage.

Both of them are pushed close to the point of failure but unwilling to go down without a fight, the Centaur stallion turns and attempts to knock her to the ground as it tries to run over her once more. Niery predicts the move and gracefully jumps out of the way ready to slash across his side as it moves past. The centaur collapsed a couple of feet behind her as she dealt the fatal blow.
