Chapter 5 by Jizzrar Jizzrar

Let's delve deeper into...

Daughters of Gwyndola

Have you ever seen a Dwarf perform magic? Well, magic that wasn't just runic magic? Well, I suppose then the Daughters of Gwyndola would surprise you with the fact that it is an religious sect of Dwarf pyromancer women. One would suppose it is rather fitting, for there is only a few who can surpass the fiery passion of a Dwarf with their craft or traditions.

As the old passage goes, “Men craft the metal, but woman tends the flame.”

These women take that saying to heart. Choosing to worship the Mother from Below, the Daughters of Gwyndola hold the power of fire in their hands. And they are proficient in its uses thanks to their training.

Normally they don’t do much outside of ceremonial roles. They would be the ones to prep the bodies and send them to the lava pits to be accepted by their goddess. They would also use their pyromancer to help craft mighty items with skilled craftsmen and runepriests. However, due to the Age of the Green Menance, their roles have changed to be a bit more confrontational.

When the Greenskins arose and strongholds started to fall, nonconventional methods of combat had to be utilized. Daughters of Gwyndola would start traveling with carriages through the underground highways to make it easier to collect bodies and they perform the rites. However, from this a discovery was made.

Fire was an incredibly effective weapon at dealing with large groups of enemies at once. And so, the Daughters began learning combative tactics in using their divine gifts. Normally it would be sacrilege to use Gwyndola’s flames to destroy life. It Gwyndola herself despised the Greenskins for butchering her father’s creations, and deigned killing the Greenskins as preserving sacred Dwarven life. Thus, the Daughters of Gwyndola had accepted a new role as specialized Greenskins killers, whose flames could mend the wounds of allies, and scorch the Green Menance.

To this day, it is still more common to find a Daughter tending to burial ceremonies or helping craft powerful armaments. But you can go with it and find them traveling about, a referring their newly found unorthodox purpose.

Some prefer to stay close to home and hunt Greenskins that are still in their mountains; being escorts for caravans. Others go out on pilgrimages and assist those within the Coalition with good deeds. And others take a more aggressive role of going out into the Steppes and work to eliminate the Greenskin threat for good.

They have no true leadership, preferring to not be bothered with a chain of command. Though, there is a select group of older members that take charge of initiations. It outside of this group, there is no true leadership in the order; taking all guidance from Gwyndola herself.

The Daughters of Gwyndola is, understandably, a very highly regarded, respected, and sacred order among the Dwarves. To the point that it is believed that go wrong a Daughter is to wrong Gwyndola herself. A crime which is punishable by exile and a denial of burial rites, denial of joining Gwyndola’s embrace in the afterlife.

End of Lecture.
