Darx on the night of the festival part 2

I was confused with what Oliver told me. Oliver was supposed to go to the capital tomorrow, at noon, so what does he mean by going tonight accompanied by Emma?

"Are you leaving the village with Emma tonight? I don't understand." I asked confused.

Oliver agitated and pulled my arm. "Lower your voice, Darx... For now, come with me and I'll explain."

I started to follow Oliver. Looking back once more I see my mom and Kase dancing. I don't feel comfortable leaving them alone dancing, but Oliver seems to need me more. If Kase tries something, I'm sure my mother will give him a painful lesson.

Oliver took me away from the campfire to a place with no people. Behind some trees we find Mia and Emma hiding.

"Why are they hiding here? What's going on? "I asked, even more confused.

"Nobody saw you coming here, right?" Mia asked while looking around.

Oliver turned to see me and began to explain. "Darx, when I went to the bathroom, I met Mia. She brought me here to ask me for a favor. They asked me to escape tonight with Emma."

"Escape!? Why do they want to run away?" I asked.

Mia continued explaining, "Darxi, I love you but shut up and listen. You should know Emma is pregnant, and we are afraid of what Fabe will do once he finds out. Emma wanted to leave Fabe, but he doesn't leave her and behaves violently towards her."

I think I'm beginning to understand the situation. When we fought with Fabe and Kase, Fabe was very violent towards Emma, and I saw the bruises that Emma had. Fabe really is scum, and I understand the fear she feels towards him.

"Emma told me that Oliver was planning to leave tomorrow and she was afraid of being left alone. But the idea occurred to me that Emma should go with Oliver, behind Fabe's back. Fabe will not expect Emma to abandon the village during the festival." Mia continued explaining.

"Emma planned to leave in a week anyways, so she had no problem convincing her parents. If Emma comes with me, I will be able to protect her, and I am sure my relatives in the city will not mind if I take her with me." Oliver said.

Once again, Mia continues explaining, "A group of people will leave in an hour, and the idea is that they go with them. By the time Fabe realizes they are gone, it will be too late. If Fabe asks, we can say that they left for a city different than the capital. [Tristanis] is a good idea since it is in the opposite direction."

For the first time since I arrived, Emma said something, "I'm sorry I'm causing so much trouble."

With a face of anguish which I had never seen on Mia before, she replied, "It's not your fault, Emma! It's all that damned Fabe's fault. I'm not going to let my little sister continue to suffer for that bastard. Let's follow the plan and if Fabe wants to get you back, he’ll travel in the wrong direction. And if he doesn’t care and goes to the capital anyways, it could take a very long time until he eventually finds you. Especially if he isn’t looking.”

Fabe really ruined Emma's life. For Emma, now that she is pregnant, it will be almost impossible for her to be an adventurer. If she stays here, people will start talking bad about her for getting pregnant without being married. I can see how worried Oliver and Mia are for her and I think the same thing. That the best option for Emma will be to go with Oliver.

Mia hugged Emma and continued to comfort her. “I’ll also be joining you in a week, so we’ll be going through this together.”

Emma, a little more relax, replied, “Alright, I’ll do it. If it’s with Oliver, I know I’ll be safe.”

"Now I understand the situation, but in what way can I help?" I asked.

"Fabe is all crazy looking for Emma all over the village, and most likely Cal is helping him. Oliver has to go pack up and say goodbye to his parents. I can take care of distracting Fabe until it's time for them to leave. But I don't want to leave Emma alone with Cal hanging around." Mia replied.

"Will you distract Fabe, Mia!? Are you sure it's a good idea?" I asked.

"Ahhh! Are you worried about me, Darxi!? Don't worry. I'm ready to deal with Fabe. For now, take care of protecting Emma until the time comes for them to leave." Mia replies with her usual mischievous smile.

"O-Ok, take care..." I said.

We agreed to meet in an hour at the village entrance, which is where the group that will leave for the city tonight will meet. Meanwhile, Oliver will go home to prepare his things and say goodbye to his parents. Mia will go with Fabe to distract him while Emma and I go to her house to collect her things and wait until it is time to leave.

"Darx, please take care of Emma," Oliver told me as he walks away from us.

"Don't worry. I'll keep her safe." I replied.

Oliver was already a few steps away from us when Emma ran to catch up with him and grabbed his hand.

Emma, with tears in her eyes, "Oliver, I'm sorry, I'm really sorry... After all that you've suffered because of me, you still behave so kind to me. I don't know how to apologize to you."

"Emma, do you remember what I told you when we were kids?" Oliver holding Emma's hand replied.

"W-What you told me when we were kids!?" With a surprised face, Emma asked.

"I told you that I was not the most handsome or the strongest boy... but I promised you that I would do everything possible to make you happy and protect you. No matter what happens, I will keep my promise." With an expression that reflects his feelings for Emma, Oliver replied.

"Oliver..." Emma could not contain the crying and began to cry.

"Don't cry Emma... We can't make noise and let Fabe find us." Oliver said while hugging Emma.

After Emma calmed down, Oliver left. I'm sure Oliver's words have touched Emma's heart. I never understood why Emma decided to go out with Fabe since she never showed that she was attracted to him. On the contrary, I felt that deep down, Emma felt similar feelings to Oliver's. If they are together, I know they will do well.

"I'm leaving too. I'll make sure to get back in time so that I can say goodbye to you." Mia said.

"Be careful , sis." Emma replied.

"Darx..." Mia said while staring at me.

"Yes...?"

"I had planned tonight to be different for the two of us and to make you see the truth."

"I don't understand..." Confused, I replied.

Mia just smiled and left. What was she referring to? No, I can't think about that. I have to take Emma home without being seen by Fabe or Cal. Emma and I went to her house, walking through the most desolate parts.

"Darx..."

"Yes?"

"Mia is always confident and aggressive, but she is actually very kind and cares a lot about the people she loves. Sometimes she flirts with men but she would never do anything indecent, and ever since she was little she has always been in love with you. So please don't get her wrong."

Since I was a child, I have always spent my time with Amelia and Oliver, and only recently have I spent more time with Mia. Even though I still don't know her well, I know that what Emma says about Mia is true.

"Don't worry, Emma. I know Mia... wait... hide!"

I took Emma by the arm and we hid behind some bushes that were to our right. The reason we're hiding is because I saw Cal walking down the street. After watching him for a while, I noticed that he was behaving strangely.

Is Cal crying!?

Cal is a bit far away, but thanks to my good eyesight, I can see that he is crying, and it seems that he is drinking too. On one hand, he carries the bottle, and in the other, he has some papers. I wonder what happened to him to be that way?

It doesn't seem like he's looking for Emma... After a while he moved away, and we were able to continue on our path until we finally reached Emma's house.

No one was at Emma's house and her bags were already packed, so we just had to wait.

"Emma, do your parents know you're leaving today?"

"Yes, before leaving, Mia and I explained to my parents that I would be leaving tonight. Mia was sure Oliver would accept, so she asked me to have my bags ready."

"And do your parents know about your pregnancy?"

Tears began to come out of Emma's eyes as she replied, "They don't know... They think I'mt leaving earlier so I can go with Oliver. If they find out they'll be disappointed in me, and that's something I don't want to see."

Emma was very affected by this whole situation, so I stopped asking and tried to encourage her as best I could until it was time to go to the villa's entrance.

I loaded Emma's luggage and we left the house, heading to the meeting point as discreetly as possible. When we arrived, several people were already there getting ready to go, but Oliver and Mia had not yet arrived.

Emma and I started to get nervous as there was not much time left, and neither showed up.

"Darx, what if something happened to them?"

"Do not worry. I'm sure they will arrive."

I was trying to be confident, but the truth is I was worried too. After a good while, when everybody is on the wagon, the driver prepares to leave. I explain to him that Mia promised to come by and say goodbye to her sister and asked him to wait a few more minutes. He tells me that he can easily wait five or ten more minutes, as long as it’s not half an hour.

Luckily Mia and Oliver arrived almost simultaneously shortly after. Emma and Mia ran to hug each other and started saying goodbye.

“I love you so much, big sister. You’re the best.” Emma cries.

“I love you too, little sis.” Mia says back as she returns the hug. “Stay safe out there.”

Oliver approached me and smiled. "I wish I could have said goodbye to Amelia."

"Don't worry, Oliver. I'll be sure to explain it to her. In a week you will see her again anyways. Then you can apologize to her in person."

"It is true! Soon, I will see Amelia again. Unlike you, who will make me wait half a year."

"Make sure you take good care of Emma, and don't forget that I will be the first customer when you have your restaurant." I replied smiling.

"Thanks, Darx! If it hadn't been for you and Amelia, I would have had a miserable life. I'm grateful."

"I can say the same, and this is only the beginning. Once we are all in the city, we will continue being together and do great things."

"Yes!"

Oliver and I crashed our fists and headed over to where Mia and Emma were.

I saw Mia reach into her pocket and pull out a golden coin. Is that the same one she got from Mr. Enzo? She holds it out to her twin sister and says, “I want you to have this, Emma.”

Emma looks at the coin with astonishment. “Mia, that’s a …”

“You are starting a new life in [Riledo].” Mia says. “You will have more need of this than me.” She then reaches for one of Emma’s pockets and places the coin inside.

Emma starts crying and she leans over to give Mia one last hug.

Oliver and Emma got into the wagon, and Mia and I watched them go. Watching Oliver leave was harder than I thought. When it's Amelia's turn, I'm sure it'll be even more difficult. I looked back at Mia, thinking she was crying but no.

"Are you okay, Mia? I thought you would cry."

"Emma has always been the one to cry easily. If I let her see me cry, I know it would be more difficult for her to leave."

"Emma is no longer seeing you."

"I know..."

Mia was trying not to cry, but she couldn't take it anymore and began to cry. I wanted to comfort her but didn't know how, so I hugged her. Mia cried for a long time in my arms until she calmed down.

"Thanks, Darx. I feel better."

"Do you want me to walk you home?" I asked.

"Are you trying to take advantage of me now that I'm ****!?"

"W-What? N-No...., it's not that, I-I just..."

"Hahaha! I'm kidding!"

"You clearly feel better already...!" I respond.

"Why don't we..."

A woman's scream cut short what Mia was about to say. The music stopped, and the sound of many people screaming began to be heard. Now, what happened? The commotion seems to come from the bonfire. Mia and I looked at each other confused, and ran to see what had happened. When we arrived, I see a large crowd gathering. Did someone get hurt? With difficulty, I managed to break through to see what everyone was seeing.

The first thing I noticed was Mr. Enzo with a cut on his arm and bleeding, and close to him is one of his maids wielding a bloody dagger. In front of him was Noah's immobile body lying in a puddle of blood, and on top of him, the housekeeper crying.

"Noah..."

"You didn't have to kill him." Someone yells.

“He’s a drunk! You easily could have pushed him to the ground!” Another villager yells

Is Noah dead? Why is Noah here? I thought he had left the village... What happened?

"There was no need to stab him in the chest!” Someone yells.

People seem angry with the maid who has the knife. Was she the one who killed Noah? People were starting to get out of hand, and Mr. Enzo's maids and Jax were trying to calm things down while one of the maids was trying to help Mr. Enzo. I decided to approach Jax to ask him what had happened.

"Jax, what happened?"

"Noah, in a drunken state, tried to kill Mr. Enzo. Noah managed to cut him on the arm, and one of the maids reacted by stabbing Noah in the chest."

"What...?"

"As you can see, there are a lot of drunk people, and they are getting out of control. Can you go find Kase so that he can take his father to the mansion?"

"O-Okay..."

"I haven't seen him here, so he must be at the mansion." Jax said.

I did what Jax told me, and I headed for the mansion. Nobody answered the door when I knocked and when I noticed that the door was not locked, I decide to enter. Inside, the lights were off. I announced several times that I was inside, but no one answered. If Kase didn't hear me, it means he's on the second floor in his room.

I've never been on the second floor, but I went upstairs since I had no other choice. I don't know which one is his room is, so I walked through the hallways calling his name, hoping he would hear me and come out.

As I was going through one of the doors, when I stopped. What was that?

"Nha……, A……, ANh……, N,n…… AAah, Aa……, A……"

Behind the door, I can hear the moans of a woman very faintly. Is this Kase's room? I got closer to the door to try to hear better.

"Ah, Your pussy feels so good!"

I walked away from the door, surprised by what I heard. That was Kase's voice. It looks like he's having sex with someone. I decided to approach one more time to try to hear who he was with, but a maid called me.

"What are you doing here? Visitors are prohibited from going up to the second floor."

"Sorry! I tried to warn that I was here, but nobody responded. Jax sent me to find Kase so he could go help, Mr. Enzo."

"It is not necessary, the servants of this mansion are in charge of keeping Mr. Enzo safe, and Kase is not available at the moment. You better leave."

Before leaving, I looked at the door once more, where I could still hear a woman moans very slightly. I walked past the maid, and when I was about to go down the stairs, when the maid stopped me to say something.

"Darx, I'll give you some advice."

"Ehh?" I replied confused.

"Stay away from this family; otherwise, only misfortunes will await you."

I was surprised that the maid knew who I am, and without hearing my answer, she left. Outside, things had already calmed down, and I ran into Mr. Enzo near the mansion entrance accompanied by his maid. I went back to the bonfire, and Noah's body was no longer there. The fire had been put out, and people began to return to their homes.

I guess I should also go home. I was still worried about Amelia since I didn't see her during the whole festival, so I went to her house, but the lights were off. It's quite late, and she must be asleep. I wonder if she came and didn't find us after we left the bonfire. There are many things that I have to talk to her about tomorrow... I wonder what Amelia did all day?

When I entered my house, the lights were off. Hasn't my mother returned!? I went to her room to make sure, but she wasn't there either. Now that I think about it, I didn't see her when the commotion broke out at the bonfire. If she got drunk, she would most likely stay with Alice.

I'm tired... I lay in my bed very sleepy. Too much has happened today. Why did that have to happen to Noah? Could I have done something else to help him and prevent what happened? I can't help but feel a little guilty.

I wonder who Kase was having sex with?
