Chapter 12 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

What will you do?

Dare Belit to drink the wine instead

You told Belit that this whole bottle needed to be drunk tonight-- no way were you putting a cork in this and setting it back in storage. Royal Red was meant to be savored as soon as it was uncorked, but it was a legendarily rich wine. It wouldn't be easy for anyone to drink that much of it, between just the three of you, especially with Rosary being something of a lightweight with liquor.

"I am sorry..." Rosary murmured, tracing the cup again nervously with her fingers.

You told her it was nothing worth apologizing for, because as it just so happened, your party had the perfect wine guzzler ready for the task. You took the cup from Rosary, then handed it over to Belit, along with a challenge: she would have to drain this cup, as well as her own. Unless, of course, she didn't have the constitution for it.

"Huh? Is that a dare?" the thief asked, raising her eyebrows and jumping up from the bench.

You nodded.

A fire lit in Belit's eyes and a cocky smirk spread from cheek to cheek.

"Oh dear... You haven't known Ms. Von Bromide long, but you should really be aware that she is... overly susceptible to dares," Rosary whispered to you, then jumped as Belit laughed, loud enough to reverberate through the night air.

"Ba ha ha ha! Susceptible, you say? More like there's never been a dare that Belit Von Bromide couldn't complete to the humiliation of the fool who dared her!" the ranger bragged, accepting the cup so that now, she carried one in each hand. "Watch, as I make this Royal Red vanish before your very eyes!" With somewhat amazing speed and a noisy series of gulps, she downed the glass in her right hand, then gave a hearty sigh of happiness. "Mmmm... You've really made my night, you dopes! I'm getting twice the wine this way!"

You wondered if you ought to step in. Her freckled face was already terribly red after that one cup and she was set to drain another.

Before you could stop her, she chugged the contents of the left glass, spilling a bit down the sides of her lips and chin. Instead of a sigh, a burp came out this time. "Oh shit, sorry. Heh heh- urp!"

"Um... Thank you, Sir Lavender, for sparing me that fate, but... but I am a bit worried about Ms. Von Bromide, now--"

"Wheresh that third glash?" the ranger babbled, spinning around on her toes in a way that seemed likely only to make her dizzy on top of tipsy.

What's next?
