Who Was At The Front Desk?
Daniel Was There
"Rough day today?" Daniel asked with a slight grin. Kim couldn't help but feel a tinge of disappointment. Was it too much to ask for a supermodel? "Sorry, but my daughter is pestering me about a necklace. Is there a 'lost and found' or something?"
"No, sorry. And I haven't seen it, either." Kim said with a sigh. If she was merging with any man, she'd prefer one a tad younger. "Your wife is Nicole, right?"
Daniel raised an eyebrow. "Yes. How'd you know?"
"She came down here yesterday looking for the exact same necklace. Brought her daughter Rebekah too, said it was her other daughter's." Kim explained.
"Oh! You're the manager from then! Kim, right?" Daniel shouted. Grinning, he continued. "Nicole said you incredibly helpful! Sorry for bothering you again..."
Kim thought for a second about how Nicole could've remenbered her name. Kim didn't remember telling either of them that. And then it clicked. Nametag, obviously. "It's no problem, sir. I have your wife and daughter's names and numbers written down, just in case someone turns it in." Kim said, an idea forming in her head.
"Oh! Well, let me grab a pen real quick." Daniel said with a grin, grabbing the nearby purple pen and some sticky notes. Writing some numbers down, Daniel handed the note to Kim. "My number is probably already on the record, right?" Looking at the note, Kim had to resist the urge to smile. The fool had wrote down three phone numbers, labeled "Scott", "Emily", and "Daniel". "I put it on there, just to be safe." Daniel explained.
"And the other two numbers?" Kim asked, starting to get excited.
"Scott's my son. He'll probably be around the room a lot, he's not the outdoorsy type. And Emily is Nicole's, our, youngest. She's who the necklace belongs to." Daniel explained. "This way, you can contact any of us. Trust me, Emily would kill me if bad phone signal kept her away from her necklace."
"I will be sure to contact you if anything comes up. Emily first though, right?" Kim asked with a grin.
Daniel chuckled. "Yeah, she's been pestering everyone to look for it. Even the other guests."
Kim felt the necklace warm up as Daniel walked away, headed back to the elevators. Daniel wasn't quite to her liking, but the rest of his family wasn't out of the cards. Kim still wanted a piece of Rebekah or Nicole, all to herself.
"Boss?" Kim suddenly heard from behind, causing her to jump. "Sorry! I'm just letting you know, I fixed the radiator in 306."
Panting, Kim leaned against the front desk. "Jesus, Lex! Make some noise when you walk!" Kim shouted, more than a little upset.
Lex pulled her baseball cap over her eyes. "Sorry, I just wanted to let you know. Any other repairs?"
"No. Nothing." Kim grunted as she looked the maintenance head up and down. Alexis, or Lex as she went by, never caught Kim's eye before today. She was tall, with hardly any curves, and always wore than damn tracksuit and baseball cap. Honestly, she always seemed more boyish to Kim.
"Alright, then I'm taking my break. And, sorry. Again." Lex said, turning away.
Something about that small, cute butt and that blonde bun under that baseball cap bouncing away made Kim go crazy. She had to merge with someone, ASAP. Lex was right there! But... Nicole, Rebekah, Emily... They were just a short elevator ride away! Decisions, decisions...
