Chapter 683

Dangers.
Alice and Diana insisted we let the effects linger for a little longer to see if they got stronger or weaker, as well as to see how long they lasted. I wasn’t a huge fan of letting them sit there feeling uncomfortable, but I had to admit testing this here, in a safe environment, was for the better.
As they both put it, they didn’t feel the effects growing stronger. Rather, they simply got more and more difficult to ignore each minute or so. I saw Alice begin to lick her lips more often and swallow her own saliva. She wouldn’t say it, but I could tell the desire to suck dick was getting to her. As for Diana, I saw her fingers twitching and caught her raising her hand to her boob a couple of times, stopping herself short both times.
Diana sighed. “I’ll bring the mood down saying this, but… With how many times I’ve seen men trying to spike a woman’s drink, I can’t help but think that… this could be really dangerous.”
“Yeah, I can see that,” Grace said. She turned to look at me, her eyes narrowed in worry.
“I won’t misuse this,” I assured her.
“I know. That’s not what worries me.”
Yeah. They could all probably tell. I was getting scared. I’d always had my worries and grievances about these powers. I worried the girls would only like me because I was good at sex, I worried they gave me some weird and unfair advantages in life, I worried about the effects they could have on my own day-to-day life. They rarely, if ever, seemed like a danger to other people, though. Greater pleasure, health benefits, deeper emotional connections… That was all stuff the girls welcomed. When Frey and I came up with the idea of using magic to make cocktails, we did so with the intent of making something that would let other people experience a bit of that increased pleasure. But this? This was actually dangerous. Not just for my girls, but for everyone.
It was the point I realized I held a dangerous weapon in my hands.
Intellectually, I understood it wasn’t that much different from a kitchen knife. Use it properly and it’s simply a tool to make meals that can make others happy. It is still a knife, though. A big, sharp knife.
Emotionally, it was a bigger shock that it should’ve. I already knew magic could be dangerous if used improperly, but something about the potential misuse of this particular skill… It made my skin crawl. I would never even consider using this to intentionally hurt someone. But accidentally? You don’t have to think about accidents. They simply happen.
And then there was the potion I was making for Luke. If a little sexual energy infused into a cocktail could have this effect, then what would an improperly mixed lust elixir do to a person?
I swallowed hard.
“You’re thinking about not using magic for this ever again, aren’t you?” Mila asked me.
“...A little.”
Alice smiled at me. “Isn’t there a fish they use in Asian cooking that has a lethal poison?”
“Yeah, pufferfish,” Noelle said. Her eyes and her smile widened as she understood where Alice was going. “Only chefs with 3 or more years of training are allowed to prepare it. I’ve always wanted to try it.”
“Excuse me?” Sarah said, raising an eyebrow. “You want to eat poisonous fish?”
“When well prepared it’s 100% safe,” Noelle noted.
“Depending on how it’s prepared, **** can be both poison and medicine,” Diana said. “Fernet, for example, is an Italian amaro that’s made from herbs. A small, well prepared shot is great for the stomach. Any more than that will get you sick real quick.”
“And I have a love-hate relationship with F1 cars,” Alice said. “They’re ugly, fragile as paper and every safety measure in them has had to be fought for with tooth and nail. Yet there’s a weird beauty in a machine tailor-made to be the fastest it can possibly be with little regard for anything else.” Alice suddenly grimaced. “I remember that my brother was once asked to put a turbo on a very lightweight car. He was very apprehensive and advised the man not to do it because it would make the car unbalanced and unwieldy. The customer insisted, so Alex installed the thing. Two days later the man had an accident. He survived, but…” She sighed. “Installing the thing was a mistake in the first place, but Alex still wonders if he didn’t do the job right. The car was a mess, so there was no longer any way to tell.”
“Being a psychiatrist is the same,” Sarah said. “One wrong judgement, one wrong word can have an irreparable effect on a patient.”
“You’re smart enough to get what we’re trying to say, Oliver,” Grace told me.
I sighed. “Yeah, I know. One can’t have any self-doubts with you around, huh?”
“If we let you, you’d sit on them for weeks,” Sarah told me.
Yeah, I would. “Fine, I’ll be sure to practice a lot to find a good balance for this.”
“Good. But for now… Oliver, I’ve had enough. Can I have a turn now?” Alice asked me with a wry smile.
I turned to look at Diana, who smiled reassuringly. “I think she’s taking it worse than I am. Don’t worry about me. Although… I wouldn’t mind watching, if you’d let me.”
Alice giggled shyly. “I think I’d like that.”
The planned order was for Noelle to go after Alice, but the redhead herself was the one who ran behind me and started pushing me towards Diana’s bedroom. “Go! Don’t worry about us. I can’t stand to see these two craving it like this. Take your time but do it properly!”
And that was her blessing. Alice held my hand and dragged me into the bedroom while Diana calmly followed behind.
