Dad's training blog, part 1

DAY 1:

Got here to Grandma's house in Ahihud, it's hot and dry and not too much fun. Long plane ride, very dull and nothing to see. Mom says this trip is to begin my training, she continues to speak of "אימון לאישה", not sure why she says that with a smile looking at me. It's all very strange but she wants me to keep this log as part of it.

Grandma saw me, by the way, and gave me a big hug. Felt a bit awkward considering she kept speaking to me in Hebrew and insisted I try as well, complaining my move to the US made me forget most of it. I scrape by, making sure that she feels that I'm trying. Am I? I don't know. But at least I know where mom and I got our looks from...

DAY 2:

Woke up early, too early, but Mom says I need to start getting up early to help fix meals. She says it is good training for taking care. When I asked "taking care of whom?" she just smiled and said "you know who." Grandma is just as coy, like it is a big secret between the two.

All day, being shown recipes, being taught how to cook and to shop, what to look for. It's hot as hell and they're dragging me to store after store for groceries and make up. What is this training for?

DAY 3:

Saw dad today, he drove in from Tel Aviv, had some business there. Now I know where the rumors of him being Mossad come from but I'm not so sure. He gave me a big hug again, said he was proud of me for finally taking this step, thought I would be some spinster in a cabin somewhere. Said he looked into things, wasn't so sure at first but he's happy and appreciates him more now. Not sure who "him" is.

My cousin Eugenia came by today, said she wanted to take me out for a "girl's day" and we hit the pool. She kept smiling and said "it was nice to finally get to see this side of you". Are all the people around me crazy?

Mom texted me while I was at the pool, said I should take pool selfie. Not sure why but I thought "why not?" and did so.

Someone you know is given a new body & life

PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others).
