Crystals (infodump)

What are demonic crystals:

Crystals are placed throughout the world by demons in different locations, brothels, casinos, underground markets and other places of sin or where a large amount of people gather in close proximity like in the academy arc. They lead to the world becoming lewder with time and allow demons to gather corruption in this world. ( Why that is important will come later)

How to deal with crystals:

There are two ways to go about the crystals.

Way number one would be destroying them. In that case it didn’t matter how you got to the crystal as you would destroy it either way but after destroying it you would inevitably have to battle a demon every time risking a party member being corrupted or cursed if you aren’t strong enough.

Often times ambushing the demon beforehand would be more advantages if you planned to so do but for that you needed to find out his identity first.

Way number two would be reversing the crystal, it needed to be done discreetly for the demon not to notice your interference but once accomplished for the demons it would look as if everything was going by plan.

It would corrupt its surroundings just like before making the change unnoticeable, no actually the corruption would progress even faster but instead of sending all that corruption to the goddess it is actually being siphoned off helping the Goddess instead and giving her some breathing room in her battle against the demon god.

Therefore reversing the crystal actually helps the Goddess more even if it will lead to the world getting lewder faster.

Whether or not to destroy or reverse the crystal will depend on many factors but you need to reverse far less crystal than destroy them to make sure the Goddess doesn’t lose out.

Why others don’t see them:

There is a special magic cast on the crystal it’s not a simple illusion spell otherwise higher rank adventurers would have been able to see through it but mind magic which makes you ignore the crystal as if it doesn’t exist to begin with. As if it’s so insignificant that you wouldn’t even pay attention to it and forget about it immediately.

A normal person might look straight at a crystal and ignore it and even unconsciously avoid walking into it still thinking he went straight ahead.

Only with the help of an artefact would you be able to see them or from the second play-through on distinctly knowing that there was a crystal here would invalidate the mind magic.

Which was my case. Even if I told my teammates, unless they fully believed in my words without even a shred of doubt they won’t be able to see them until they use the artefact themself to view them.

But you would only find the artefact later and revisit many old locations seeing how they changed. Obviously I wouldn’t be satisfied with that so even if my party is unaware right now and isn’t even going after the demons yet I still decided to do what I could to reverse the crystals for now.

I did consider breaking them but that would lead to fighting the demon that placed the crystal here and we weren’t strong enough for that yet.

There was always the choice between either infiltration the place and reversing the crystal in secret or barging in **** and destroying the crystal which also meant fighting against the local hidden demon.

As I was no thief class sneaking in discreetly at night wasn’t an option for me so I had to infiltrate the classic way…
