Chapter 29 by royalgambler royalgambler

Will the evening be as intense?

Crêpe Paysanne

Caleb led Mira down the halls of the hotel with her walking calmly behind him. Staying present in the current moment was about all the Master could do to keep from spiraling. Mira’s words continued to echo throughout his mind. Of course, objectively he could recognize the truth of her words, obviously life wasn’t fair. If it was no one would be at this hotel currently.

With all that being said, it wasn’t like he could just give up all his baggage at the door and just change immediately. There was too much wrapped up in his self-image, his hatred for his mother. He couldn’t let that go so easily. He had said he would change, but what did that even look like? Who would he be on the other end of that-

His thoughts were interrupted by a tap on his shoulder and he turned to see Mira staring him down, “You need to relax, I can hear your thoughts from behind you.”

Slumping his shoulders, Caleb sighed, “Sorry, you’ve just given me a lot to think about.”

“I understand that, but is now the best time for that? You have a beautiful woman at your side that you are taking to dinner. Is that where your thoughts should be at this moment?” Mira ran her fingers along the hem of her dress.

Caleb raised an eyebrow, “I suppose not, but in this scenario are you calling yourself a ‘beautiful woman’?”

Mira mirrored his expression back at him before raising a finger to her lip coyly, “Are you going to disagree?”

Swallowing, Caleb turned back around avoiding eye contact, “I…suppose it’s an accurate description.”

They continued to move and made it to the separate dining hall for the Master and his date, the Faun at the entrance leading them inside. Mira gazed at the decor with an evaluative eye before gliding to the chair at the table pulled out for her and sitting down. Caleb followed suit and the faun came over to take their orders before leaving them alone with water.

Mira took a sip and then glanced over to Caleb, “So, your mother,” Caleb felt his body clench, “I knew you lived with your father, but you never did explain the circumstances of their separation. Forgive me I had always assumed an unfortunate passing, you never seemed keen to discuss it. I now see it was a different sort of wound.”

Caleb supposed he was going to have to discuss it at some point, and after what had happened in the theater, there didn't seem much point in concealing anything from his agent, “I was six years old, so the details surrounding it are hazy, but my mom who had previously been very sweet and caring shifted. She no longer wanted to spend time with me and spent most of her time home arguing with Dad,” Caleb took a long sip of water, “Then one day she came home and loudly proclaimed that she had been cheating on dad for half a year and she saw no point in hiding it any longer. So she packed her things and left to be with her lover, leaving my dad a wreck and me very confused.”

The whole time he spoke, Mira just regarded Caleb with an even gaze, intently listening as he continued, “Dad later would explain that Mom had found someone she loved more than us and had left to go be with him and that it wasn’t either of our faults, it was just a decision she had made for herself,” Caleb could feel his fists clenched so tight, his nails were digging into his skin, “The only other contact we had was years later when we received divorce paperwork in the mail. I guess she wanted to finalize things with her new guy so she finally got around to it.” Caleb ended bitterly.

Mira waited to see if he had anything else to say before nodding, “So because you grew up hating your mother and what she did when you also committed a lesser act of cheating you can’t help but conflate the two?”

Caleb hit the table with his hand making the silverware shake as he looked at Mira sharply, “Lesser? Look at what I did to Lily!”

“I am not denying the pain your actions have caused. I am merely pointing out that while the crimes are related, your mother intentionally deceived and belittled your father for six months and then proudly declared her separation. Whereas from what I’ve gathered, you got caught up in a moment of fleeting excitement. Tell me, if you hadn’t been caught would you have hidden it from Lily? Or would your guilt have eaten at you until you confessed.” Mira took a sip of her drink as she waited for Caleb’s response.

“I-I…Obviously, I wouldn’t have been able to keep it a secret. I hated myself immediately for what I did to her.” Caleb’s eyes turned downcast as the Fauns delivered their meals.

Mira raised her fork, “There you have it. You are your mother’s son, but you are not your mother. You probably have inherited plenty of toxic traits from both her and your father as well as many good traits. You are your own person.” She stabbed the steak that had been delivered.

Caleb looked down at his plate of food, not feeling very hungry. He looked to Mira, “So we’re doing a lot of talking about me. What about you and your family?”

Wiping her lips gingerly with her napkin Mira looked Caleb in the eye, “My Mother and Father moved to the States from Bangladesh in their twenties seeking to make a livelihood. My father is a banker and my mother runs a laundromat. They encouraged my talent from a young age, got me the best tutors they could afford, and sent me to a school that specialized in the fine arts. I started professionally taking roles at the age of sixteen but lost my voice after aggravation of an injury I received in a car accident. Since then I used the connections I built up over my career to create a prosperous talent agency. Now you know my life story.”

Caleb stared wide-eyed, “Just like that? That can’t be everything, not after you pressed me.”

Mira shot him a look, “It is indeed not everything, but it is the grand scope of things. Caleb, you are not going to truly get to know me in one evening. I am fortunate that this competition has eliminated the greatest source of trauma in my life, and I am grateful. But we are deluding ourselves if we think 50 days is enough to truly learn about each other.”

“You don’t think love can happen in that time?” Caleb asked curiously.

“That is not what I said,” Mira dipped her steak in some of the pan sauce before continuing, “I think 50 days is plenty of time to fall in love, lust, whatever this show requires. But it is foolish to think that you will truly know everything there is to know about us by then. We are to be bound to you for life and just like every other human in a relationship you are going to need to put in the work to know and grow with us all. So typically in dating you might take the time to learn things as you go, this game requires you to learn what is most important, as quickly as possible. Then the pressure cooker of erotic transformations, threat of punishment, and competition pushes us all to give in to our feelings. It’s actually quite clever. An extended suspension bridge effect.”

Caleb dropped the food on his fork, “Clever? Really? After everything that’s happened, you can sit there and admire what’s being done to us?”

Mira sighed. “Caleb get off your high horse, you yourself admitted this was a fantasy of yours. Am I happy I was ****? No. Would I choose to be in your harem? No. But I have to admit I can understand why the show works. They create an environment primed for passionate encounters. Then any fallout that may occur when everyone has to deal with their idiosyncrasies isn’t caught on camera. The audience just sees love and sex and that’s all they want, so what do they care?”

“So what, we should just accept it because of how well-crafted the concept is?” Caleb got out bitterly.

Clicking her tongue Mira dabbed at her lips, “No Caleb, we should accept it because our choices are doing the best we can in the situation in front of us or suffering until we are made to enjoy it. Ultimately that’s what is at stake here. It is a game, for the host, for the audience, for all of us. Treating it as if that is not the case just invites us to get burned.”

“What about Eliza and them? Aren’t they all collaborating and working together? You sound so cutthroat when it’s not necessary.” Caleb had pushed his plate away at this point feeling his appetite rapidly leave.

Raising an eyebrow, “You’re a fool to think just because they are cooperating that they are not playing. They’ve made a choice about how they’ll play is all it is. They’re making it hard by trying not to upset others, and good for them. I don’t feel the need to do so. We all are in this together, but it is important to keep in mind the only one who can be guaranteed to always have my best interests at heart is me.”

She stood up from her chair, “As for being cutthroat, is it really that awful to consider myself first in this situation? You’re here trying to lecture me about how awful this situation is but then double back the moment I say I’m trying to protect myself. I’m not out to screw anyone over Caleb, but I am acknowledging that given this game is focused on competitive challenges? These alliances? I’m telling you now will cause more harm than they prevent.”

“You’re the one saying we all need to learn to live together even after this show ends, so why?” Caleb jumped up from his seat.

Mira sighed and raised a hand, “What will hurt more when faced with a challenge that makes us work against each other, the person who told you they’re putting themselves first beating you? Or the one that said they were on your side the whole time?”

The singer’s words shut Caleb up real quick as he struggled to think of a response. Mira dropped her napkin on the table and then looked over at him, “Shall we retire for the evening? It seems like we are both finished.”

Caleb collected himself and nodded. He wanted desperately to show Mira that she was wrong, that she didn’t need this hard exterior she was putting up. But every time he thought of something to say, the words turned to ash in his mouth. The worst thing about everything she said is that she wasn’t wrong about anything. It was just so…dreary.

They made their way to the elevator in silence. If Mira felt anything about their conversation at dinner, her face didn’t betray it. She had the same serious composed expression that Caleb was used to seeing her wear. Even as they rode the elevator up the air stayed tense and then Mira spoke up

“Caleb I know you mean well, I know you want everyone to get along. That would make things so easy wouldn’t it? Accept though that we all have been faced with an impossible situation. I don’t think the other women are wrong for banding together, I think any strategy is equally as valid if we’re going to get through this. I’m just choosing the one I see working best for me. Can you accept that Caleb?”

The Master reached over and took Mira’s hand, causing the Bengali woman to look over at him, “I can’t help but want it to be different than it is. You’re right it would be so much easier if all these women I’m supposed to fall in love with got along but that’s not the way things are set up and it would be pretty callous to ignore that. I think as long as you aren’t trying to hurt the other girls, I can accept that.”

Mira merely nodded in response as they made their way to the master’s suite, Caleb opening the door for her. She peered around the room, “Less luxurious than my room.”

“Yeah…that’s supposed to change but I don’t know when. It’s based on how much VP all you have together.” Caleb said as he sat on the bed, unbuttoning his shirt.

Mira stopped gazing around the room and came over to the bed and leaned in, “Perhaps I can help with that then.”

Eyes widening, Caleb stared over at Mira, “Wait what…I didn’t think…after all that happened today?”

Mira leaned in as she pulled out the bun in her hair and causing it to drape down and grinned pulling her hem down and exposing her right breast to him, “What are you not interested in my body at all?”

Caleb felt his face grow very hot and blood started to rush downward. Mira’s eyes looked down at his crotch and she grinned satisfied, “I take it then that you are interested…but you’re right…I don’t want to rush into things. It’s a bit early in the relationship for us to have sex.”

Finding his voice Caleb stammered, “I-I guess so…”

Mira’s eyes were half closed as she leaned back, “But I would be a fool to let my one opportunity to score points with you this round go and not do anything.”

She slid down her one sleeve and let her one breast hang out as she slowly spread her legs open, the slit on her dress causing it ride up and bundle at her crotch as she slowly slid a hand downward as the other reached up and clutched at her ample exposed bosom.

Her eyes lidded as she gazed over at Caleb as she began to knead her breast, “Take your cock out for me Caleb, show me how hard this woman’s body makes you.”

Caleb felt his mouth go dry as he wordlessly reached to his crotch and unzipped his pants, his hand reaching in he fished out his hard cock as he couldn’t tear his his eyes from Mira.

Mira let out a soft moan at the sight and slid her hand through the slit in her dress. Caleb couldn’t see anything but from the way her dress rose and fell he guessed what was happening.

“So hard for me…” The singer purred, “Stroke yourself…touch yourself as I touch my own body. Tell me Caleb do you wish you were fucking me?”

“Oh god,” Caleb choked out as he gripped his cock and began to stroke as he watched as Mira navigated her own body so skillfully, “Yes Mira…fuck I want to be inside you.” Caleb groaned

“Not tonight though, like I told you…you need to be better…hmmph,” Mira rolled her nipple between her fingers, “Tonight you just get to watch, get to think about this body you want so badly to touch but I won’t let you. Not until you’ve earned it.”

Caleb was breathing heavily, no air felt enough as he watched the movements of her hand pick up underneath her dress all while he stroked himself. The whole time she kept eye contact, only occasionally drifting down to look at his hard shaft and redoubling her own movements.

Then when Caleb thought things couldn’t get more intense, Mira opened her mouth and began to sing. Her words were like honey sweet and heavy, she was singing the same Habanera he had heard earlier that day. From her lips though, the already sultry song took on a domineering tone. She was in control right now. He could feel how the music affected him and his body felt like it was going to overheat.

She began to move her fingers faster as she reached the crescendo of the song, nodding to Caleb as her throaty bellow gave way to a moan as she began to orgasm, her hips thrusting against her own hand. The signal was all Caleb needed to finish and he felt his cock jerk hard in his hand as he began to spray over the sheets between them.

Silence fell between them, the only thing breaking it being the sound of each of their laboured breaths.
