Cooking it goes well

After a few minutes prep time, Zack put a small pot of hot water on a log inside the tent for Heather to wash herself with. While she cleaned up, Zack got to work prepping their dinner. The first thing that went on the fire was the wild rice. While that was boiling, he prepped their steaks. Assuming that he would be kissing Heather quite a bit that night, he skipped the onions and garlic that he normally would have put on a porterhouse. After checking the rice, the steaks went on the cooking grate.

“You working hard, or hardly working, Zacky?” Heather asked.

Zack turned around to give a smart-assed answer but was awestruck by how beautiful his new girlfriend looked. She was wearing a pink and white stripped long-sleeve shirt tucked into white denim cut-offs that were held up with a brown webbed belt. Above the brown leather sandals she decorated her feet with was a silver ankle bracelet adorned with small diamond studs. Her dark brown hair was tied with a red bandana. She wore no makeup, but she didn’t need any.

“What?” she asked him.

The only reply that Zack could give her was a long kiss on her lips.

“How’s dinner coming along?”

“The steaks are on. They should be done soon. The rice needs a bit more time, so you’ll need to add some water while I’m getting cleaned up,” Zack replied before stepping inside the tent and stripping down.

As a wet towel wiped off the sweat that had accumulated on his body since the paddle out to the island, Zack had to laugh at the way things had developed. Just twenty-four hours earlier, he had been thinking about how to break the ice with Victoria and now he was about to sit down to a romantic dinner with Heather. His father would have laughed at the way things had changed for him.

“I think you’d have loved her, Dad,” Zack said into the air as he finished cleaning himself off. As he pulled a royal blue polo shirt over his torso the smell of frying onions filled his nostrils. “Yup. You definitely would have loved her.”

Zack finished dressing and stepped back outside where he knelt behind Heather and kissed her neck while she finished the onions. She sighed as he managed to flip the steaks over without breaking contact. The sound of water boiling over and landing on hot coals set the pair to finishing the task at hand. Zack carefully took a spoonful of rice into his mouth and quickly deduced that it needed another five minutes. While that finished, he turned to set the table for dinner only to realize that Heather had already taken care of it.

“Wow, you’ve been busy,” Zack complimented Heather.

“Well someone has to do all the hard work around here,” Heather replied.

Zack responded by sticking his tongue out at her. Heather grabbed a steak knife and made a sawing motion with her hand.

“Keep sticking that tongue out at me, Zack Bishop, and I’ll cut it off while you sleep!” she laughed.

“You wouldn’t dare! You’d miss what I can do with it too much!” Zack took the knife in his hand, placed it on the table and kissed his girlfriend. Heather kissed him back until she felt his hands squeezing her ass.

“MMM! Keep doing that, Baby, and we’ll be back in our tent going at it while our dinner burns!” She warned.

The blue-eyed boy responded by squeezing both of her ass cheeks and shouting “HONK! HONK!” as loudly as possible before stepping away from her.

“Hahaha!” Zack laughed.

“Aaack! ANNOYING!” Heather playfully shouted at him.

As Heather loaded the fried onions into a bowl, Zack tested the rice again. He looked at Heather, gave her a quick “Thumbs up,” put the steaks on a plate, and took them and the pot of rice to the table. Heather grabbed the bottle of wine and the glasses and joined him at the table for dinner.
