Converse with the old man.

"You are rather kind-hearted, Kyle Warren," says the elderly wizard. "I won't stay long, but I do want to make an exchange. I'll ask this question first. What were you able to figure out in relation to the battery I gifted? Given how talented your people are, I would be surprised if you haven't made progress. It is something that interests us both, and that pixie above you is an artificer, yes? I imagine an artifact from Earth would pique one's curiosity."

"Oh!" Fava slaps her hands together. "I'll be right back. Don't move!" She then darts away at an incredible speed.

He chuckles warmly. "I assume that means they have. Here, allow me to offer something in the meantime." From within his robe he pulls out a decorated purple bag. After undoing the silver drawstrings, he reaches his hand so deeply inside that surely he should be hitting the bottom. Instead, it swallows the entire appendage. He rustles around for a moment before withdrawing a yellow GameBoy Color. He hands it over, and after that, he pulls out a few games as well. "Assuming your battery works, this may be of interest. As you know, I first came over to Absoterra about fifty years ago, so I'm not even certain what this child's toy does, but it certainly looks fun."

"A GameBoy, huh? Wow. Yeah, if we can get this working, it'll certainly blow some minds."

"I'm back~!" Fava calls out from above. She darts down from the sky, and wrapped in her embrace is what appears to be two AA batteries, though only from a distance. When you look at them closer, they're something stranger. they glow from different coloured crystals, and the bodies are a strange combination of metals. With pride, she plops them down into the old man's hand.

"Outstanding," Ealdorman says as he inspects the magical batteries closely. "You didn't just augment the one I gave you. This is something entirely new."

"Aw shucks. Well, I wouldn't have been able to do it without an example. It took a lot of trial and error, but I think I got it! Once in awhile it needs to be given a charge, but it should be able to output the same amount of energy as the old one. In theory."

With one hand, he stows a battery away into his magical bag, though the other he places into your other hand. "Keep one. This is remarkable. As a trade, you may keep that GameBoy as you call it to test what your pixie has done. On top of that, allow me to give you an even more difficult challenge."

"I'm up for it!" Fava shouts. "And uhh, I will say it wasn't just me. Dixby was especially interested in the strange stuff found inside, Laira is incredible with metalworks, and others had ideas too, but yeah. I am pretty great. And I'm definitely up for a challenge!"

"Take this then." Once more he reaches into his bag, and this time he pulls out a rudimentary smart phone. The screen is cracked and it doesn't have any semblance of life within, but he hands it over into Fava's embrace. Then lastly, he drops the GBC few games into your other hand.

"Thanks for this," you say. "But yeah, while you're here--"

"I know. You seek to topple the throne of Elok Daven. I will be there if needed."

"You're from Earth, but that doesn't mean you need to copy Gandalf to the point of speaking in riddles."

The man chuckles. "Don't pretend you don't also enjoy indulging in the fantasy of this world, Kyle. It's a wonderful place. You know, many things have been altered by the coming of Earthlings. We've had irreversible effects on these lands. It's almost like... a storybook world, where we can do whatever we please. It makes me wonder just how many inventions exist purely because somebody from London arrived and said they knew of electric stoves and spandex. Have fun. Make friends. Truly the strangest aspect of Elok Daven's goal is that he wishes to return home."

"He wants to rule over it."

"In a strange way, I understand. If the world truly is a story we can weave ourselves, then it would be tempting to **** one's own power. I could do much more than I do now, but I learned long ago that the more intrusive one becomes, the more likely it is that a drastic change could hurt many innocent people. Some are upset that I take even less action than the rest of the Circle, but I'm content where I am. I hope that one day, you'll be content where you are as well. I believe that Elok will never have this feeling, even if he succeeds. This is not so different than the other from Earth."

"William?" you ask.

"He also seeks power. I'm not saying he's anything like Elok Daven, but while you've been helping those in need, on purpose or not, his aspirations never cease. I think he also understands this is a world which can be manipulated."

"Yeah. I did kinda always feel like back on Earth, he was probably a try-hard gamer or something. A person who has to keep improving, but not in the healthiest way. At least he's on our side. With his help, we defeated Sa'dis, and with his help, we'll take down Elok too."

"Just continue to do as you've been doing," Ealdorman says. "Your own way. I must be departing now."

"Can you tell the other chairmen that--"

"They don't listen to me," he says with a chuckle before walking away, back towards the front gates.

You sigh. You look up to Fava and say, "Guess we'll speak with Lord Barkis again. Then hopefully we can get into contact with everyone we need. Them, Shadow Garden, and anyone else who might help."
