Liliana pov:

Your mind is still reeling as you reach the meeting room. You enter in a daze and observe the women with fake smiles. It’s going to be another long battle, you think as you put on your own smile.

“President, thanks for making time for us,” one of the women states as you enter.

You follow up, “That’s correct. Annabell is the main funder for security and set up the current system with my grandmother.” It seems everyone already knew, as their faces don’t show any visible change. You and Surya were quite shocked when reading the finances.

Annabell confidently leans forward, her chin lying on her hand. “Thank you, president. Yes, I was quite surprised when I heard you want to increase the security.”

“No, we-“ the woman tries to interrupt. You don’t understand. You told Annabell what they wanted.

“Yes, Magdeline, I understand,” Annabell states, interrupting the woman, “I understand your fears that ****, especially ecstasy, is being smuggled onto the campus.”

Magdeline’s mouth flops like a fish as Annabell goes on to address each mother by name, stating what they are “worried about”. The issues span from the privacy of delicate purchases to illicit goods to sneaking in men. These are things your security didn’t even know.

You can only suck in a breath as you imagine the secret war that might be going on with the wealthiest and most powerful moms. Your family has power and money due to the school, but it’s always been conservative. They mostly save and do limited investing. Only the school ever has lavish funding. So, the wealth is still modest compared to most of the families who attend.

Magdeline finally gets a word in, “We are here to lower the security on family and servants connected to students.”

“I see,” Annbell cooly says.

Another woman adds, “I understand your daughters are leaving the school.”

Annabell raises her eyebrow and smiles cruelly, “Are you implying that I don’t care about my sister’s or my niece’s safety?” She then waves away the words, “My daughter's leaving isn’t set in stone yet.”

Magdeline glances at the woman with slitted eyes. The woman backs off and hides. “I hope they stay,” Magdeline fawningly says. “We feel like we are being treated like prisoners,” the mother looks at you and asks, “President, what are your thoughts?”

“I understand your sentiments. But the safety of the students is my top priority,” you say diplomatically. You gesture for Surya to begin the presentation you’d prepared.

Before Surya can begin, Annabell says, “I’m convinced. President, we should lower the security for students.”

“What?!” you discourteously exclaim.

“Ah, my apologies, president. Back when I negotiated with the previous president, I’d wanted to use my own security, to begin with,” Annbell explains with a splendid smile.

Magdeline cautiously asks, “What do you mean?”

“Well, if we get special treatment for ourselves, I see no reason my mercenaries can’t enter for my security. You all are free to bring in your people,” Annabell says with a sanguine attitude.

Even though her words are warm, the temperature in the room is cold. Annabell isn’t rigid like your grandmother, but she is confident and strong. No matter the situation, she believes she will come out on top. It’s so attractive…. That’s the only way you can describe Annabell at this moment.

Annabell POV:

Uhg, what a waste of time. But with Merry and Tiffany out, you have nothing better to do. You continue to shoot barbs and counter these craven women until they acquiesce to the status quo.

Once the meeting is over you accept Lilliana’s thanks and meet up with your sister.

“How’d it go?” Olivia questions as she links arms with you.

You shrug, “It was boring.”

Olivia laughs, “Well, I expected that with you in the fight. What about the app?”
