Conditional Quests I

I select Conditional Quests I.

I write the following 2 conditional quests:

• When Robin starts to stream, she receives the quest: 'Stream for at least 1 hour.' Reward: 'gain followers depending on stream quality (minimum 1).'
• When Robin wakes up, she receives the quest: 'work on the game for 4 hours.' Reward: 'Gain money based on performance (minimum is minimum wage per hour)'

I hope she actually tries to stream tonight.

I return to the catering company I ask to have a conversation with Jessica about the investment in it. She nods and asks: "So what did you want to talk about?" I sigh and say: "A friend of mine wants to start their own game development company. I was wondering if I should invest in it to support them."

"Well, I guess, based on what your friends do, it is Robin. He is finally starting to find his own path. You should support him, but that can get nasty if money is involved. Do you want that?"

"I don't, but I still want to support them, unlike the rest. I can hardly give expert support. I didn't finish my first year. I didn't even get half of the points in it. I failed it. How could I ever be of help?"

"You didn't pass your first year, but you are smart and capable of managing people with a user manual. This place wouldn't run half as well as it does without you. You figure out what others need better than I ever could. That is why I want you to take over. Not because you are a genius or the best business-minded person, but because you are a person who will help people get the help they need and support them." A light bulb lights up.

"Wait, could we look into expanding the scope of our work? By, for example, including people with disabilities and some money as daytime activities for them. You know, like 'Brownies & Downies,' a company that works with people with disabilities while also producing functional output for the world. They work as a restaurant, though.... them as servers means less hassle than them in the kitchen..."

"I can see the gears spinning, and I think we are both concluding that the people you would target are not the ones who need organised daytime activities. But targeting people who are currently on the disability registry could work with aid. The government would back up some of the risks involved with us adapting to them and vice versa."

"Targeted recruitment isn't allowed, but we need people who can do front-facing work and those who can not and do the prep for the evening. So that would be a good balance."

We continue to talk about the future and investment until the evening, when we have to leave for a catering job.

I get a message that Robin is live as I arrive back home from work. I open her stream on my phone. She doesn't have FaceCam on. Maybe she did not feel comfortable showing herself. I get a message: 'Robin can receive a new quest'. Cool, let's see how she reacts to this quest.

Robin will receive the following quest: 'On stream, talk about your day.'

Come on, Robin, you can dilute your day if you want, but talking about it should be fine. Talking about spending a day with your Mom and having fun should be fine. So I will select yes.

I don't want to mess with her stream too much. She should be able to gain more followers if she actually does a good stream.

(Robin's POV)I receive a notification. 'On stream, talk about your day.' My eyes go wide as I am playing a chill game. Before, it only gave me quests I wanted to do anyway, but might find difficult to motivate myself to do. I don't want to do it, but I am curious what the perk does. Femininity made me more feminine, so this will allow me to be better at streaming. That is good.

I continue with the game and say: "Hey, how was your day, Chat? I spent today with my Mom going out shopping for some makeup and a high tea. We had a heart-to-heart and decided to do it more in the future. Wait, BargainBrain69, you cut open a whale today? Can you explain how that happened?"

And I continue the stream, but it feels like it got easier after I had told that story. I managed to gain 10 followers. This perk did benefit me. I hope that I don't have a shitty quest next time. I finish up the stream and go prepare for bed.

I wake up to find a new quest on my phone. 'Work 4 hours on your game.' Okay, I was planning to do that. Wait, the app will pay me minimum wage for those 4 hours at a minimum. If I do well, it will give me more money. After one hour, an extra quest appeared again. 'Clean the house.' I roll my eyes, another thing I hate doing. Luckily, it is something I need to do. What is the reward? 'Cleaning I' perk, fair that should help with cleaning. I will do that between work on the game as a sort of break.

Whomever or whatever this Quest Master is, they are sure trying to help me and make me better at living life. Two more hours of work, and all the small cleaning things go by. The house is clean, just one and a half hours left to do as work on the game. Half an hour before the time is over, I receive a new quest. 'Demo any weird mechanics for the games you are designing.' That takes more than 4 hours. I should do it anyway.... I don't want to... maybe... depending on the damm reward. 'Coding I' perk, it will make the entire process easier. Arrgghhhh. I hate that the reward for the task is the thing that would help the most with the task I need to receive it. I will work on it for at least half an hour at a minimum. If I feel the flow, I might do more.
