Chapter 3 by lonewolf038 lonewolf038

Where does Ruby go after leaving her room.

Common Room #7

As soon as Ruby walked out the door, she was met by an uneasy sight; standing in the middle of a hallway with no windows, just doors, including the one she just went through closing right behind her. Looking back she noticed a green light brightly lit above her door. Noticing that all the others doors have the same light above it, yet not lit, she was unsure what it was for. 'Did it signify some special meaning?' Ruby thought. Shen then noticed a small white plaque with her name on it, among other things. The plaque read as follows:

Ruby Rose

Age 19

World of origin: Remnant

Time in Rehab: New Arrival

Penalty level: 0

"Well that's convenient," Ruby noted aloud to herself. It was clear that this plaque signified that the door next to it led to her room, and provided the basic information about her to anyone else here, particularly her new neighbors. What concerned her a bit was the info on the bottom; the one about a penalty level. Is this to show everyone what might happen if they did something bad, or break some rules, whatever they are? Whatever it is, she'll probably find out one way or another. Looking around Ruby saw nothing but doors evenly spaced between each other across the hallway; with at least twenty between on each side going in either direction. before wondering how many people like her could be hear, she noticed what looked like signs hanging from the ceiling, all with the same information:

^ Common Room #7

v Recreational Gym #4

'A recreational gym might be a good for training or keeping in shape, if it's what I think it is,' Ruby thought, 'but there might be people that could help me in the common room, so I'll start getting the lay of the land there.'

As Ruby walked down the hall towards the common room, she looked to her left to see who was living in the room next to hers. Sure enough, the plaque next to the door showed the relevant information.

Tifa Lockhart

Age 22

World of origin: Gaia

Time in Rehab: 7 months

Penalty Level: 3

It was interesting for Ruby to know the name of her next door neighbor for when she meets her, but what really got her attention was the fact that whoever this Tifa was, she wasn't from Remnant, but from a completely different world she's never even heard of. She also took note of the fact that her neighbor has been here for at least seven months now, so this person could prove to be a reliable source of advice for dealing with this place. Then again, the fact that this person has some penalties on her might be a problem depending on what said penalties entail. Putting those thoughts aside however, Ruby continued down the hall towards the common room, and took note of the plaques of other doors she passed. It was strange that most of plaques she saw were blank, especially considering the whole place is supposed to be home to people from several different worlds. The plaques that did contain information though were strange, particularly the "world(s) of origin" part, since they mention worlds she had never even heard of. Finally, after some walking, Ruby made it to the end of the hall at a large double doors labeled "Common Room #7".

"Well," Ruby said to herself as she put her hand on one of the doors, "time to meet the neighborhood."

Opening the door, Ruby walked in to see a fairly normal sight (relatively speaking of course). At one side of the room, there was at least half a dozen girls in skintight suits like hers, but of different colors, sitting on some couches watching something on a large tv facing away from her. at the other there were some tables and what seemed to be a small bar with stools nearby. While no one seemed to be tending the bar at the moment, there was another group of girls in similar garb talking amongst themselves, as well as one other girl drinking something by herself. She had long brown hair gong down to her waist, brownish red eyes, and a smooth, light complexion. The bodysuit she was wearing was white, but what got Ruby's attention was the knee high, stiff looking, high heeled boots that seemed to make the woman's feet point directly down, along with the thick mittens that seem to giving anyone wearing them trouble with holding... well... anything (as Ruby could see with the woman drinking a glass of something with both hands); both sets being a bright red that seem to be made of the same material as the bodysuits; and just as tight. Since Ruby wanted to take things slow on her first day, and since this lady in white is the only one by herself, it would seem logical to talk to her first.

"Um, hello," Ruby meekly said after walking up to the woman, getting her attention.

"Huh? Who are you?" the woman said, looking up from her glass towards Ruby. "Are you new here?"

"Yes," Ruby answered, "I just woke up in my room a little while ago."

"You just got here?" said the woman with surprise, "It to me until the next day before I got out of my room. You must be made of something tough. Name's Tifa. Tifa Lockhart."

"You're Tifa?" Ruby sputtered, "You're room's right next to mine. I'm Ruby Rose."

"You're my new neighbor?" Tifa said with delight, "That's good to hear. Where are you from? What world I mean."

"I'm from Patch," Ruby replied, "The town of Patch, I mean. The world I'm from is called Remnant. Sorry, the fact that there are people from other worlds is still sinking in."

"I know the feeling," Tifa agreed. "I never thought I'd be going to another world filled with people from a bunch of different worlds."

"Yup, same," Ruby commented, "I thought I'd never see anything after..." Ruby trailed off, remembering how she nearly met her end at the hands of Salem.

"Hey, I get it," Tifa assured. "It was rough for me too."

"Really? How did you get here?" Ruby asked.

"I..." Tifa trailed off, "don't want to talk about it, and I don't think you want to talk about your trauma either. That's kind of the unspoken rule around here. We don't ask about each other's past. We share when we feel like it."

"Okay, I understand," Ruby complied, "I'm guessing I can't ask about the gloves then."

"Oh these?" Tifa said. "This is something else. Just what happened when I stole a jerk guard's keycard, and then got caught using it trying to escape."

"Oh, so that's some kind of punishment?" Ruby asked. "I was wondering what those penalties on our rooms' signs meant. I guess you got to those boots from escaping too?"

"Yup," Tifa admitted, "kicked a guard in the groin trying to leave, but that didn't work on all of the guards."

"Oof," Ruby cringed a little with the mental image in her head. "Wait a second. When I saw your info, you had a penalty level of 3. I only see the boots and mittens. I'm assuming the level depends on how many times you got caught. So what happened the third time you got caught?"

"First time actually, I..." Tifa started before clamming up and blushing, clearly embarrassed about something. "You see what happened was... Well I tried to escape a few days after I got here. I thought I could dress up as one of the guards so I could move around more freely, an old trick I pulled back home. The problem was the everyone on staff seemed to know each other, and the moment someone stopped me to talk... well the jig was up and I barely got anywhere before I got knocked out. As for punishments... well brace yourself." Scootching away from the table with her chair, Tifa turned towards Ruby, spreading her legs to reveal her crotch. Instead of the noticeable cameltoe Ruby had, there was a smooth, ovoid, metallic looking cover over it, with a faint blue light lit at the center. "After they caught me," she explained, "they dragged me to some sort of medical lab, strapped me down to a bed all spread-eagled, and put this long plug with the cover you see right now inside of me. As soon as it was in, the plug inflated... and now it's just stuck in there. And then it just gets worse because the guards can make the plug shock or... vibrate remotely whenever they want, which makes escapes a little harder."

"Um..." Ruby squeaked with a burning red face; not wanting to imagine how it felt, yet can't help but doing so anyway.

"Sorry," Tifa apologized, "I just think you should know what you might be in for if you actually TRY to escape, and fail. Either way, it's not an easy thing to talk about. Still, there's plenty to do here that won't get us into trouble, and I'd be happy to help you learn the ropes. In fact, Why don't I treat you to a drink? I'm sure you could use one to relax on you first day. How about it, Ruby?"

Does Ruby accept Tifa's offer for a drink?
