Comforting Eve

You anxiously wait inside Camilla's house with Eve, part of your 'truce' with the villagers so they can discuss with the entire town what to do with you. Kara and Camilla will advocate for me, but that's all that I can actually count on. The waiting is killing you, so you decide to pass the time with some conversation with Eve. "So...did you discover anything else about yourself today?"

She snaps out of her own stupor, thinking for a moment. "I think I figured out another spell..."

"That's great! Pretty soon you'll be chief, yourself." You ruffle her hair, noting it's a bit more frazzled than when you had walked in on her and Kara earlier today.

"No...I couldn't be chief. I'd have to be strong enough to beat you, first." She kicks her legs against the bed as her face turns a darker shade.

"Don't look so down on yourself. You heard Camilla before: you're already strong enough to beat ten men twice your size! Just imagine how strong you'll be when you evolve!"

She smiles as she chuckles, before getting a bit lost in thought. "Well...I don't know if I want to evolve... Even with how terrible those people were acting to us, I don't think I want to **** them...or anyone, for that matter... I didn't think much of it before, especially when you found me earlier, but now...it just doesn't feel right..."

You're stunned for a minute. Wait, what? "What does **** people have to do with evolution?"

She looks to you, confused for a moment. "Well, I'm not an expert, but the only goblins that seem to evolve are the ones that **** people. We haven't had a raid in a while, so the only goblin that had evolved was the old chief. I think I remember someone saying the other tribes had orcs, and even an ogre or two."

"You don't say..." Are there...upgrade quests? You quickly use God's Eye, taking a look at Eve's sheet. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like she has enough experience to evolve, having a little over three thousand racial experience. How much does it take to evolve? "Well, if that's your choice, I'm not gonna stop you. If anything, I'm proud of you." You pull her into your side, rubbing her arm.

"Really? You don't think I'm...weird for not wanting to get stronger?"

"There's a difference between wanting to get stronger and wanting to hurt people. The strongest people are the ones willing to do the right thing, even if it doesn't benefit them." You smile down at her. "Besides, who said anything about you not getting stronger? All those hornets you killed means you'll get stronger in no time!"

You sit in silence with her for a moment before she speaks up again. "Do you think they'll all be as okay with us as Camilla and Kara?"

You sigh. "No. But we don't need all of them to accept us. We don't even need most of them. As long as some of them accept us, we'll be fine. Let's not think about that, though. From what I gather, you've got a class selection available, so do you have any idea what you want to be other than a ranger?"

She looks at you, confused. "I...get to choose?" She looks away, now deep in thought. "I...haven't really thought about it. I didn't even know I had one class, but now I get to choose a second one? Does it even work like that?"

Shit, I didn't think about that... Do people normally get to choose their classes or is it just...obtained? "I'm not sure, but we could always have a goal to work toward." You backtrack, trying to make sure you don't get her hopes up.

"I...I'll think on it. I don't even remember what options I have, though."

"We can ask Camilla about it. I'm sure she has more answers than I do, but from what I do know, there are knights, barbarians, sorcerers, priests, and a couple others that I can't remember. That's not to say that's the limit. I'm sure there are more classes than what I know of."

"Those sound...familiar...but none of them really call out to me." She begins swinging her feet and hitting them against the bed again.

After a while, and a quickie outside (because Eve couldn't keep it in her pants) you hear a knock on the door before it opens, Camilla popping her head in to spot you two on the bed. "Hey." She opens the door more and steps in. "A bit weird, knocking on my own door. Good to see you followed rule one."

"So what's the verdict?" You grip Eve's hand, only now realizing how nervous you are about all this.

"Everyone's...undecided. Sure, you've got cases of monsters like Runa Ruya helping humanoids, but people still hold onto their..."

"Justified notions?" Eve picks up where Camilla left off.

"Yeah..." The brunette rubs the back of her head. "We're taking a break on the discussion for now, but a vote is gonna take place in an hour or so. Kara and I managed to convince them that you'd be willing to follow whatever the vote decides, but I don't know if we talked well enough to convince half of them to let you stay."

You sigh. "Well, that's...fair. I'll probably stay in the area, for the most part, but if they don't want us in town, that's understandable."

"Anyway, switching topics from possible exile, why are you still wrapped in some random guy's shirt? You know I have clothes, right?" Camilla walks over to her dresser and begins pulling out a set of clothes.

"Uh, well, I didn't want to borrow without your permission, since I seem to have torn your other shirt to-...why are you handing me a skirt?"

She cocks an eyebrow. "You can literally make yourself look like anyone you want and you're questioning my limited wardrobe? Just be a woman if you're that worried about it."

Eve looks at you with awe. "You can do that? I thought it was just the one form!"

"Nope, that spell's pretty versatile." You sigh as you stand, taking the pile of clothing out back to change. Within a few minutes, you've donned the blouse, skirt, and undergarments Camilla provided, regrettably polymorphing yourself into a sort of mixture between yourself and the captain. You've got her smaller bust and round-ish rear, but have maintained your eye and hair color. You weren't sure if you were thinking of futa-Camilla or regular-Camilla when you imagined your hybrid form, but either way, you're currently a futa yourself. You reenter the building, finding the captain and goblin discussing something. "Well, how do I look?" Your androgynous, but slightly feminine voice leaves your lips.

Eve looks between you and Camilla. "You look pretty similar."

"Well, I'm borrowing her clothes, so I at least had to match her measurements. Plus, she's the one whose body I know the best...and now that sounds really creepy..." You hold your head in your hands.

"Don't worry about it. As long as you keep the hair and eyes different, I won't be." Camilla leans back.

"Well that's you, Cap. Everyone else might think I'm trying to steal your life..."

A silence fills the room, but Eve is the first to come up with a solution. "What if we don't tell people you've got more than two human forms? One man, one woman, and then your monstrous form."

Camilla leans forward, her elbows on her knees. "That could work. Even Kara probably just thinks you have the one right now, and it's still a leap in logic to go from two to infinite possible forms."

You relieve the tension in your shoulders. "It's an idea, but I can't think of anything better..."

"It's decided then. Now, why don't we get to the church?" The captain stands. "If you two aren't allowed back in town, it'll be a bit harder for Gilford to help with your amnesia problem."
