Come to the rescue.

You activate your Boots of Herbes.

With Rabbit's Foot pulled against your side, you float down gradually enough to where you can angle your directory towards the remaining boats. In fact, you notice two guards bail from one nearest to the hydra, and with that, your destination is chosen. Your descent is swift enough at least to near your landing before any casualties, and none expect your arrival, especially from the sky. Captain Zido especially is focused entirely on the beast, and rightfully so.

The small boat rocks under your feet as the two of you reach ground.

"Don't sever the heads!" you shout. The flash of your magic blade cutting through the air draws the attention of all around you.

Captain Zido turns with widening eyes. "... Kyle Warren! Is that truly you?" He stares dumbfounded for a moment, but then shakes his head. "There's no time to converse."

"Agreed."

A furious maw comes down at you from above like a lunging falcon from above. Just before it meets its mark, Lalarin delivers a powerful, twirling kick, shattering a few of the creature's teeth and sending the entire neck spinning back around. "I'll leave it to you. Everyone! Follow me to safety!" Then the spandex-clad heroine dives from the boat and straight into the water to keep the guards from being swallowed by the sea, if not by the terrifying creature nearby.

"But what do you mean by don't sever the heads?" Zido asks.

"It's a hydra," you explain. "Everyone knows that when you sever one, two more grow back. That's why it has so many."

Zido's face darkens. "... Then a couple were my doing. Sorry about that. So how do we fight it?"

"Easy. We kill it with fire."

You firmly place your palm against the cold steel of your magic blade. As you slide your hand across it, and speak the words, "Flare Blade," smoke rises from the weapon, and soon it's engulfed in a terrible fire. An inferno streams out behind the trail of your shortsword's swing through the air overhead. You squeeze the handle tight, and carefully watch the movements of all ten heads. You may have a hydra's weakness in your hand, though it's still difficult to find an opening, especially with the boat rocking beneath your footing. It's a creature of the sea, and you're of the land. This isn't the best place to fight it.

Captain Zido grits his teeth. "Then what can I do?" But he ponders to himself for a moment. "Hey! Foolish creature. Do you really think you can match the might of Gobiidae's most handsome warrior? You're an insult to my eyes." As he speaks he waves his hand and weapon wildly in an attempt to grab its attention. His voice is booming. "Do you hear me? Huh? What a ridiculous beast."

All but one of the heads turn to him.

The one that remains locks eyes onto yours. You squint back. After squatting your knees for just a moment, you Bunny Hop behind its neck.

You pirouette through the air, and sever the thick neck of the hydra's nearest head, and as you do, all nine remaining screech out in pain. The stub remaining is singed and remains aflame for a time, as if you've ignited wood, and no head regrows in its place. You then slide down onto its back, which is partly submerged in the water, and run to the next. In a matter of moments, you have not only a second, but a third head completely severed, still by your burning blade. Though that's when the creature is able to recover enough to face back to you.

It bucks like the most wild of bulls. You can barely hold on.

Rabbit's Foot yells out from the dock. "This way, citizens! We're here to save you. We won't leave a single person behind."

Then, Captain Zido gasps. "Look out! It's charging again!"

"Charging?" you ask, barely able to keep a hold of its slippery body.

Seven heads remain, and all seven begin to glow. Magic wells within its chest, and each maw, as the dragon-like creature charges some sort of energy soon to be released. It's like when one like a red dragon is ready to breathe flames, though you don't feel any heat. If anything, it's cool. Each head is aimed in an entirely different direction--some at you, others towards the shore, and others into the sky.

Then, they fire.

A high-pressure beam of water nearly takes you out. Another blows a boulder near the coast into pieces. One looks as if it's going to collide directly with a familiar face near the edge of the dock--Hartmut, father of Tedrick. Just before it does, Lalarin leaps onto him, and tackles him to the ground, so instead the blast obliterates a tree in the distance instead. A couple almost hit your airship, which has been steadily on its way down the entire time. Now it's nearly to the sea.

A beam strikes Captain Zido's boat, though not before he throws himself into the water.

Having to dodge one yourself, you can no longer hold on. The hydra throws you into the air, and with a sudden swing if its tail rising up from the surface, you're smacked a distance away and towards the unforgiving ocean. But as you ready yourself for the shock of a chilling plunge, something else happens instead.

You land on your feet.
