Chapter 11 by divalution divalution

Does Summer intervene?

Code of Conduct Says Yes

Summer shook her head, appalled she'd even considered the idea of letting this go unchallenged. Yes, she had no connection to Paul and his friends, but Pokémon Rangers helped those in need, and while she wasn't a true ranger yet, she fully adhered to their principles. Taking her Marill's pokéball from her belt and gripping it tightly in her hand, she stepped out from behind the trash can. "Leave him alone, Warren!" she commanded, adrenaline filling her voice with more confidence than she had.

Warren stared at Summer in surprise for a second. He then started to laugh, shoving Paul to the ground and producing a yelp from the smaller boy. "Hahahaha! And who's gonna make me do that? You?" He smirked, clearly amused by the idea of Summer even having a chance against him in any form of combat.

Summer met his eyes defiantly. "That's right. Me. I challenge you to a battle." She released her Marill from its ball, and the aquatic mouse pokémon stared down Warren's Trapinch, its expression just as defiant as Summer's own.

Warren scoffed dismissively. "Hah. Alright. But don't blame me when you lose and suffer the consequences." He seemed incredibly confident still despite Marill's type advantage over his ground-type Trapinch, and Summer tensed up a little, remembering what Paul had said, that his pokémon's attacks had barely done anything against Warren's thanks to the enhancement **** the basketball captain was allegedly using. She gave a light shake of her head, steeling herself. All she and Marill could do was give their all in the name of defending the weak - that was a true Pokémon Ranger's calling.

The weak in question did not offer Summer any thanks for coming to their aid, the visually-compromised Jerry and Megan struggling to help Paul to his feet before the three hurriedly ran away. Warren let them go, his focus solely on Summer now.

(Warren's stats - Heart [1d4], Fitness [1d8], Research [1d4], Tactics [1d8], Toughness [4]. Trapinch's ability - Hyper Cutter. Trapinch's moves - Bite [1d6], Sand Attack [1d6], Bulldoze [1d6], Sandstorm [1d4-1]. Trapinch's Toughness - 4. Trapinch's Mastery - 1. Trapinch boosted by enhancement **** - takes 4 wounds to KO instead of 3.)

(Initiative - Summer rolls 2, Warren rolls 6 - Warren moves first.)

The two pokémon circled each other looking for an opening, and, much to Summer's chagrin, it was Warren's Trapinch who first managed to break through with a successful attack. The small, enclosed nature of the school's trash area played into the strengths of the ground-type's more close-ranged techniques, and it began stomping at the ground, executing a Bulldoze at its trainer's command, shaking the earth around it and knocking Marill into the air, landing back on the floor next to Summer with a wail of pain. Summer's heart hurt hearing the sound, and she rushed to check on her partner pokémon - it was still able to fight, but barely. She had never seen Bulldoze do that kind of damage in practice battles, even against electric pokémon who were weak to the ground-type move. Had the **** boosted Trapinch's attack damage output, too? (Critical success on Bulldoze roll - Trapinch spends 1 mastery to inflict 2 wounds on Marill - one remaining for KO).

Summer scowled at Warren. "Cheat," she spat in his direction, having no respect for someone who would chemically alter his pokémon to gain an advantage.

Warren seethed at her accusation - it bothered him, she realised, far more than she'd expected. "I am not a cheat!" he snapped. "You're going to regret saying that, bitch. Trapinch, move in for-!"

"Bubble Beam!" shouted Summer, taking advantage of Warren's rage and commanding an attack from her Marill. The super-effective jet of bubbles connected squarely with Trapinch, the ground pokémon too slow to move out of the way. (Trapinch takes 1 wound).

It was just as Paul had said, however - attacks on Warren's pokémon were less effective. When Marill had hit Georgia's Torchic with the same attack, it had knocked the chick pokémon backwards, but Trapinch almost seemed unaffected by the blast, not moving from where it stood. In fact, even while being hit by the beam, it began to advance toward Marill, following Warren's interrupted order.

As Summer stared in disbelief, Warren called for another Bulldoze, and Trapinch obeyed. Marill flew into the air again, and this time it was **** when it landed. Summer's heart lurched; she'd lost, and she'd let her pokémon get hurt. (Marill takes one wound - KO - Warren wins).

"Ha. Could've put up a bit of a fight," Warren smirked. "How'd Georgia manage to lose to a pathetic trainer like you, anyway? Ah well, at least you'll have some use..." He started to advance towards Summer; she felt herself trembling. This cheating bastard was undoubtedly going to have his way with her now as she'd seen with the losing girls in her class with their male opponents, and there was nothing she could do about it. Still putting the wellbeing of her pokémon above her own, she retrieved her fallen Marill to its pokéball... and as she did, she caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of her eye.

(Summer uses her 'Pokémon Ranger' edge to enlist the help of a wild pokémon. Roll 1d6 for pokémon species - 1/2 = Zigzagoon, 3/4 = Taillow, 5/6 = Wingull. Result - 2 - Zigzagoon).

Poking its head out of the lid of one of the trash cans was a Zigzagoon, clearly scavenging for food. Its eyes met with Summer's for a split second, but it was enough for Summer to feel a pang of empathy for the creature, willing to forage far and wide to provide for itself and any family it might have. Without Summer realising it, the understanding went both ways. The Zigzagoon, wild though it was, picked up on her desperation, her fear of what was about to happen, her regret at putting her Marill in danger on her behalf. Without hesitation, the Zigzagoon leapt out of the trash can, positioning itself between Summer and Warren.

Summer's eyes widened in disbelief as Warren stared incredulously. "What the fuck?!" he snapped. "Get out of here, pest, I'm busy!"

(Zigzagoon's stats: Ability - Pick Up. Moves - Headbutt [1d6], Growl [1d6], Sand Attack [1d4], Pin Missile [1d4]. Toughness - 4. Wild pokémon do not have access to masteries, and take 2 wounds to KO instead of 3).

Far from being intimidated by Warren's raised voice, the Zigzagoon instead raised its hackles and snarled. Summer couldn't help but feel emboldened at having such a protector, and Zigzagoon seemed to sense her emotion, leaping forward at Warren and aiming for his chest with a Headbutt. Only Trapinch's reflexes were able to save Warren from a heavy hit, the ground-type pokémon jumping in front of its trainer with surprising speed, checking the Headbutt and falling to the floor in obvious pain - the fierce blow from the wild pokémon enough to damage it even through the enhancement **** circulating through its system. (Critical success on Headbutt roll, Trapinch takes one wound and flinches - -2 penalty to next battle action).

Summer breathed a sigh of relief, not actually having wanted Warren to be hit by a full-**** pokémon attack, as detestable as he was. Her relief was short-lived, however, as the boy's fury had only increased. "What the fuck?!" he screamed at the Zigzagoon, who was still growling at him defiantly, though its eyes had now shifted to also focus on Trapinch, clearly seeing the pokémon as the bigger threat. "Trapinch, Bite this fucking feral thing, will ya?" Warren's pokémon attempted to obey his command, but it was still reeling from the Headbutt, and the Zigzagoon was able to nimbly move out of the way of its slow movements. The wild pokémon then moved back in for a second Headbutt, dealing yet more damage to Trapinch, whose small dark eyes were starting to glaze over. (Trapinch takes one wound - one remaining for KO).

"Gah! Bulldoze, Trapinch!" Warren ordered, and this time his pokémon was able to follow his command. Summer's heart sank as once again the attack dealt far more damage than it usually would, Zigzagoon yelping in anguish as it landed on the concrete. (Critical success, and a big one, on Bulldoze roll - Zigzagoon takes one wound - one remaining until KO- and speed decreases - Trapinch will take next action.)

"Finish it, Trapinch!" commanded Warren, and Trapinch hit a Bite into Zigzagoon's side as it got to its feet, drawing another pained noise from the wild pokémon. (Zigzagoon takes one wound - KO (but I'm going to write it differently for the narrative) - Warren wins (again).

Zigzagoon, heavily wounded though it was, remained standing on shaky legs, still determined to fight. "Zigzagoon, get out of here!" Summer shouted, the words coming out before she'd even thought about them in her head. The tiny raccoon turned around weakly and regarded her, and she knew she was doing the right thing - her having to submit to Warren was worth it if it protected the pokémon from any further harm. She'd made the mistake with Marill - she wasn't going to make it again. "Go, please!" she begged. "I know you want to protect me, but you have to go!" Zigzagoon considered for a moment, before inclining its head to Summer in what could have been a nod. Turning away from her, it scarpered off as quickly as it could, hopefully returning to where it lived.

"The fuck was that?!" scowled Warren, hesitantly recalling his Trapinch to its pokéball before turning to face Summer. "How the fuck did you get that thing to listen to you? And why'd it show up to attack me in the first place, huh?!"

Summer wished she knew the answer to that question. All she'd done was look the Zigzagoon in the eye - how had she effectively summoned it to help her cause? Knowing she wouldn't be able to give Warren a satisfactory answer, she simply shrugged. "Maybe it knows you're a bully," she said. "And-"

"Spare me the lecture, bitch," Warren snapped. "You've been nothing but fucking trouble. I hope you're a better cocksucker than a trainer so this is at least worth my time." With those words, Warren undid his belt, and started to take down his shorts.

Summer's heart started racing with apprehension as she processed his words. He wanted her to suck his cock? She supposed it was one of the more... preferable options available, when it came to forfeiting to male trainers, but... still... as Warren fully revealed his thick, long shaft, Summer couldn't help but wonder if the thing would even fit? Still, there was no other option. She had to get through this, and then she could figure out a way to make Warren pay for his cheating behaviour and cruelty.

She swallowed her pride... and got ready to swallow something else...

(Battle roll results:

Trapinch uses Bite [1d6 & 1d8], rolls 2 & 7 - success. Zigzagoon takes 1 wound.

Zigzagoon is knocked out - Warren wins. As you can see, some absolutely insane rolls here. Before the battle I'd considered the **** buffing Trapinch's attacks as well as its health but decided against it; then the dice decided that was happening anyway lmao).
