Where does the action heat up?
Club patrons are doing more than dancing
The Melon Club was a giant abandoned factory, originally used as a fruit cannery. Over the years, it had been repurposed into many things -- photo studio, art gallery, temporary housing, and now, a dance club.
The overall space was fairly large. At one end, there was a stage, and at the center of the stage, a raised platform where DJ Wink was working. Elsewhere on the stage were various structures that looked like abstract scenery. There was space in front of the scenery for some people dancing. Danny didn't know if it was random patrons, if you had to be invited to dance there, or if those folks were hired professionals. They looked good, but what did he know?
If this were a theater, the floor space in front of the stage would have been filled with audience seating. Here, of course, it was open, and it served as the primary dance floor. There were extensive lights above, a translucent floor with lighting underneath, pillars along the perimeter that emitted steam or mist of some sort, and at the moment, what looked like hundreds of people bouncing and grinding to the music.
After conferring with Ray, Danny began to work the room to get pictures of dancers in action. His goal was to get primarily shots of the whole room, stuff from the far end that included the stage (and DJ Wink), and capture the general vibe of the evening.
He shot pictures as he moved around. Some people saw him and half posed for him. Some smiled and waved. Some ignored him completely. He saw that there were folks there dancing, drinking, talking, flirting, and ... well, in one part of the club, a bit more.
Where was the action?
