The Captain does not leave her room, speaking only to you, but the ship makes good time, steaming over glass-calm waters. The Timeleaves on the Mirror Map roll over to Feastingdays, and you order ham and grog (in lieu of cider) to be served for the evening meals. The crew is thankful, but the Captain’s absence is ever felt. Dark whispers, fears of reprisal, are on many lips.
At least the supplies, though depleting fast, should last you through the last leg of the journey.
And day after day, the needle on the rippling silver inches closer to Barenhaven. Soon, you can smell the smoke of the distant chimney stacks on the wind. The city is close. Then a Mariner spots a ship on the horizon: Dark sails and approaching fast.
