Choosing a new phone.

Ryan led his wife past one of the major carriers' store, confusing Marlissa. "Why did we not go into that store?" she asked.

"They lock you down for a two-year contract for an overpriced phone," he explained. "We'll get you an unlocked phone you can use anywhere around the world since you're suppose to be globetrotting supermodel."

Marlissa nodded despite not understanding what he said, trusting her husband he has her best interest in mind.

They finally stopped a couple blocks away in front of Broadway Phones and Repairs, a small shop that was only noticeable if you only looked for it. The door chime greeted them when they entered the small shop.

The balding middle-aged Chinese man sitting at a table behind the counter did not look up from the broken phone he was working on. "What can I help you with?"

"We're looking for a unlocked phone for my wife," Ryan answered. "We're going to be traveling to Europe next week so we need something that'll work overseas."

"I have some quad-band Android phones with dual SIM card slots," the shopkeeper noted without looking up.

"May I see them?" Marlissa asked sweetly.

The shopkeeper stopped what he was doing and turned to see the succubus' beautiful face smiling at him. "Yes, of course!" He hurriedly stood up and got behind the counter to bring out the top end phones that he had.

"They all look the same," Marlissa noted, looking at the rectangular devices. "Which one do I choose?"

"I assume you are model so you will be taking a lot of selfies?" the shopkeeper asked.

Marlissa glanced at her husband before nodding.

"This one had the best reviewed front facing camera this year," the Chinese man explained. "Great for your social media posts!"

"Is this one good, love?" Marlissa asked her husband, a bit overwhelmed at the new technology in front of her.

"Let me check the specs," Ryan replied and the shopkeeper gave him sheets to read. "Sure, we'll take it."

"Do you want a protective case for it?" the shopkeeper asked Marlissa.

"I guess so...?" she replied, unsure what he was talking about.

"Take a look at those," Ryan suggested, pointing to the wall of phone cases hanging on the wall behind then, "and I'll get you SIM card."

The shopkeeper brought out the prepaid SIM cards with the national carriers and Ryan picked the one with his carrier.

"This one is very cute," Marlissa noted, showing her husband a pink leather wallet phone case. "May I have this?"

"Of course, honey," Ryan replied as he gave the shopkeeper his credit card, remembering that she had no money or credit cards to put in her purses and handbags.

"Thank you very much," Marlissa smiled at the shopkeeper after he helped set up her new phone.

"Now you can keep in touch with me, my parents, and your friend anytime!" Ryan chuckled as his wife explored the mysterious device.

"I want to take a selfie with you," she asked, tapping at the blank screen.

"Press this button here to turn it on," Ryan explained. "Then tap the camera app icon... like this... and then press this button when you want to take the photo. Here." He handed the phone back to her.

Marlissa giggled at wondrous technology everyone else took for granted and held it from her as she cuddled against her husband. "Smile!"

"Cheese!" Ryan grinned and she kissed him on the cheek right before taking the photo.

"Okay, now that you have your own phone, you wouldn't happen to remember your friend's phone number?" Ryan wondered, holding the door open for his wife.

"I am sorry, I do not," Marlissa shook her head.

"So how are we going to contact your friend?" he asked. "Email?"

"I know where she lives," she replied. "Or at least did live decades ago."

"That's great, what's the address?"

"666 Park Avenue."

"Seriously?"

She nodded and easily waved down a cab.
