Chapter 5 by ShadeWriter ShadeWriter

What happens next?

Choco Lotto

The two took the box into their small kitchen just to get a better look at it while they worked to open it. Scissors were always hard to find when you actually wanted them for something. Eventually they just resorted to using one of their sharper kitchen knives to crack it open. Whatever was inside felt like it was at the bottom of the box anyway so there wouldn't be a chance of damaging it.

After Joan had got it opened, they carefully took out what was inside, careful to not spill all the packing peanuts everywhere. Inside was box of chocolates, a few of them honestly. They were stacked on top of each other looking like one bigger golden box. It wasn't gold of course it was just the color used on the cardboard. Joan was about to open one and dig in when Amber gave her hand a smack. She reached in and grabbed the letter that came with them.

"...You ordered something from.... Choco Lotto?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. Her mood soured when her friend gave a shrug.

"Yeah... I think...., I order a lot of stuff lately. ....I can explain!" Joan cried as she raised her hands up.

Amber wasn't violent but damn she could talk someone's ear off. And she wanted to avoid that if at all possible.

"A friend suggested them to me. We were talking about snacks at the gym and she found this place called Choco Lotto online. Cheap chocolates that are sure to help burn fat or give you some mass. It's all on the up and up." She put her hands on her waist and puffed her chest up, "I did my research."

Joan doing research was a scary thing for a number of reasons. Still, Amber looked the chocolate boxes over. They looked like any other box of fancy chocolates. A simple gold rectangular package decorated with with red faux-ribbon, with little waves on the side of the box. Slowly opening it, she slid the tray out. It contained an assortment of chocolates wrapped in different coverings and colors. There were small lables on the tin, showing small groupings of different flavors like Milk Chocolate, Dark, Almond, Cherry, and on and on.

"That's a lot of chocolate. .... why do they call it a 'lotto' though?" Amber asked as she looked through the sheet some more.

"I heard the flavors of each box is randomized or something." she shrugged as she pulled up her mobile to show Amber, "But I know they have little contests for some of their bigger ticket items."

"Hmm," Amber took the mobile from Joan to get a closer look, "I don't know this seems pretty weird."

"Oh come on, what's the worst that could happen? Besides," Joan started to rub at her friend's shoulders, "You like chocolate don't you?"

"....I do..., and been kinda stressed out...." she rolled her eyes, "Fine, we'll keep them."

Joan raised her arms up in victory as she walked around the table. She always did like to celebrate even the smallest wins. While she was having her fun, Amber looked over the many different types of chocolate before her and wondered..

Just which one to pick?
