Go inside or nah?
Check out the Cabin (Red POV)
TW: Word from Author mentions loss of Grandparent, grief, and mental health.
Word from Author: Just wanted to give a small update on my recent period of inactivity. Around two months ago, my Grandpa passed away and while I was doing fine at first, eventually depression caught up to me once more. The "I don't care" mentality started to take hold, making it challenging to engage with the things I normally enjoy.
However, I want to reassure you that I'm on the path to recovery. I took some time off to reset my brain, and I've regained most of my motivation and enthusiasm. I'm excited to be back and I am looking forward to returning with renewed creativity and energy.
You exchange a curious look with Amber, both of you intrigued by the enigmatic cabin. The decision weighs in the air, a mixture of excitement and caution. The dim light from within casts intriguing shadows across the interior, adding to the sense of mystery. You peer into the darkness of the cabin, your curiosity piqued by what could be inside. "I think we should," you reply, your own curiosity matching Amber's. "Who knows what we might discover?"
With cautious steps, you and Amber enter the cabin. Despite the worn-down look from the outside, the inside is surprisingly well-preserved, though still filled with an air of abandonment. A few rays of light filter through the dirty windows, providing just enough illumination to see by. The cabin's interior is cozy, with a central living area featuring a fireplace, a small table, and a few chairs. On one side, you notice a bookshelf filled with old, weathered books. On the other side, a small kitchenette is equipped with basic utensils and a few cans of preserved food. Your eyes catch an old journal resting on the table. It's partially open, revealing faded ink on the pages. You carefully pick it up and start reading aloud.
"Day 38: The forest's secrets continue to elude me. I've been living in this cabin for weeks, observing the Pokemon and their behaviors. There's something peculiar about this place, something I can't quite put my finger on. Every time I think I'm close to understanding, it slips away like a fleeting dream..."
The words trail off, leaving you and Amber intrigued but also puzzled. The journal seems to belong to someone who was trying to uncover the mysteries of Viridian Forest. As you flip through more pages, you discover sketches of Pokemon and notes about their habits.
"This person must have been researching the forest for a long time," you mumble, sharing your thoughts with Amber.
You flip to the next page but it's empty. You flip through the rest of the pages. "But why did they suddenly stop writing?" Amber wonders aloud, her eyes scanning the journal's pages. "And what were they trying to find?"
On the last page you find weird spiraling symbols and 4 black lines in each corner, each a different color. One green, one purple, one blue, and the last yellow. You have a weird feeling from those symbols. "What are these?" you wonder, pointing them out to Amber.
She shakes her head, unsure of their significance. "I've never seen anything like it before."
"Me neither. But if someone was trying to understand the mysteries of Viridian Forest, this seems like an important clue," you observe.
Amber nods, agreeing. "We should keep it safe and bring it with us. Maybe we find something in the earlier entries that could help us understand the symbols."
You close the journal and tuck it away in your bag. Then, you and Amber continue to explore the remaining rooms. In the back of the cabin, there is a small bedroom with a single bed and a desk. Underneath the desk, you find a box with four Potions inside. "Should we take them? I don't think who lived here will come back anytime soon," you suggest.
Amber nods. "It might be useful to have them if we run into any trouble in the forest."
You hand Amber two Potions before stashing the remaining two in your bag. Back in the living area, you decide to check out the books on the bookshelf. "Gotta Hatch 'Em All: The Joy of Breeding and Raising Pokemon, Alola Almanac: Sun, Surf, and the Z-Power Phenomenon, Mysteries of the Unown: Unlocking the Secrets of the Ruins, Eevee's Evolutionary Wonders: Exploring the Evolutionary Diversity, Sinnoh Folk Story 3." You read out loud some of the titles but nothing really catches your attention. The journal seems to be the only clue to what was happening here.
When you turn back to Amber you see her holding two Full Heals. "I found these in a box next to the fireplace," she tells you. " Looks like somebody was storing healing items." She says handing over one Full Heal "We should take them too. Just in case."
You nod and tuck the Full Heal away. Then, you and Amber head to the final room. You open the door to find a small bathroom with a shower and a toilet. A few moldy towels are hanging on the wall. You turn on the tap and the water comes out, rusty and brown at first but it soon clears up. "At least the water still works." You say as you turn around to face Amber. "This might be our last chance to clean up before we head out"
An awkward silence descends between you. Amber is blushing, her gaze darting towards you and away.
"Oh! You thought I mean together?" You ask, chuckling awkwardly. "I mean if you want..." You trail off, leaving the invitation hanging in the air.
What is Amber's reaction / How will Amber react ?
