Chat with Damon

It turns out that they weren’t kidding about the excitement over the release of the information. Within minutes of the release, Alicia, Kyrie, and Liam are taking calls from press outlets. Damon sits with Mike. “I let those three handle public relations. It’s a trade off for my acquiescence to their…appetites.”

Mike chuckles. “You make it sound so sinister.”

Damon shrugs. “I am aware that I am an outlier here. To their credit, they don’t let their desires affect their work. Even Kyrie ensures that her science is sound, despite her flippant attitude.”

Mike nods. “Well, that’s good. I’d hate for there to be a mistake that hurts myself or others. I’m having fun so far, and it helps distract me from the weirdness of being essentially trapped here.”

Damon folds his hands on the table. “That’s good to hear. I apologize if I come across as cold, I do want you to feel welcome here. I’m not sure if the others explained this, but this is an exceptionally tolerant society. It’s unlikely that anyone would seek to harm you, at least openly.”

Mike smiles. “Alicia explained a lot of that, it’s just hard to believe, since all I’ve known is human society, which…”

Damon interrupts. “Yes, I’m aware. That’s why we are quite cautious about contacting your planet.”

Mike starts to respond when a smiling Alicia walks back into the room. “Well, it looks like your first interview will be here soon. You’re lucky, it’s a science based group, so no personal questions to start most likely.”

Mike laughs. “A good way to ease in, then.”

Alicia grins. “That’s the idea. Damon will be with you as well, I need to talk to someone else while you’re there.”

Damon nods. “Makes sense, I can fill in any gaps. Let the others handle the more sensational interviews.”

He stands, and gestures for Mike to follow. The two of them head over to the room Liam used yesterday. Sitting down, they await the first of many interviews.
