Charge her

Chapter 17 by Eismann Eismann

"You die tonight, elf!", I screamed and charged up the stairs. She still smiled smugly and I realised my mistake. Under my weight, the third step gave way and I felt myself falling. I hit the ground hard but was up in a flash. Looking around I saw I had landed in a cage that had closed above me. The cage was surrounded by humans wearing heavy armour and holy symbols. I grabbed the bars of the cage and expected to tear through them like a blade of grass but felt strong resistance. One of the paladins stepped forward and took of her helmet, revealing a beautiful freckled face and blonde hair, "Useless, filthy curse. Those bars are hellforged meteorite. It took the dwarves four years to make it and they are entirely indestructible.". Her face dropped when she saw the bars slightly bend in my grip, "Restrain him, quickly!", she yelled and they all begun to chant.

While I fought the cage, they formed a magical chain, glowing with holy light, it's links made from runes. It grew with the volume of their chanting and finally they flung it at me. It hit me square in the chest and sunk into my skin, splitting off to different parts of my body like a moving tattoo. One ring around my waist, one around my neck and two each for my wrists and ankles. Then chains sprung from them, connecting to the cage and pulling me into the center of it, spreadeagle in the air. I tested them but they felt even stronger than the bars. The paladins were breathing heavily, this must have been a high level spell cast by over a dozen experienced paladins over a whole minute. I guess resistance doesn't equal immunity.

The paladin who had spoken earlier walked to the cage, "What are you?", her expression was inquisitive, "You have green skin, how? The curse should affect all you curses. You can bend the meteorite and you are still conscious in our spell.". "I am your end!", I screamed at her, violently throwing myself around in my restraints, "I am the end to your cruelty, the end to your arrogance, the end to your rule!". The door at the back of the room opened and Athrain stepped inside, "Well done.", she casually said to the paladins, "Everyone but Thalia leave.". The paladins looked at the woman questioning you, who nodded after which they left.

"Well, what do you think?", Athrain asked Thalia, "What can we do about our newest catch?".
