Character screen

No sooner was Sven out of the door did he notice something, a sort of blinking yellow light in his peripheral vision. Had it always been there? Concentrating on the yellow glow, it brought up the character screen.

"Just like in Axiom." Sven uttered to no one in particular.

Name: Sven Gate
Title: Gate Keeper
Main Class: None
Sub Class: None
Proficiency: Alchemist
Guild: None
Level: 4
Experience: 326/450

Sven looked at his classes, so just like in Axiom, classes have to be unlocked at the right locations. What was interesting however was that his proficiency, a sort of secondary sub class that focused around crafting had been chosen for him. Alchemy was his favorite on his old account, however your proficiency is randomly generated on your accounts creation. A rather frustrating feature but important never the less in keeping a fair distribution of expertise. The point being though that Sven's old account was proficient in cooking, a much less important skill than alchemy. So he wasn't playing on his original character after all, but then again his title was 'gate keeper', that hadn't been a title in the original game either. Just what was happening?

To have a proficiency towards a skill meant that you could level that skill quicker than other crafting skills, and it would give a constant 10% to quality or quantity towards the item you were crafting. Kind of unimportant early game, but significantly overpowered towards the end of the games content, for example 10% damage on a crafted +6 iron dagger would be leagues apart in importance to a 10% damage increase on a +157500 Vigors Tooth. If you didn't have a smithing proficiency and you tried to craft a Vigors Tooth you would be an idiot for wasting such valuable resources to craft an inferior weapon. You'd be better off paying a trusted smith to make it for you.

"You ok? Earth to outsider?" Sven was brought out of his musings when a young farmer went to see if he was ok. Suddenly aware that he must have been gawking off into space while making weird faces, Sven had the decency to blush before excusing himself.

Sunlight hours were wasting, while night time is better for leveling, that doesn't mean making the most of the sunlight is a bad thing. On the contrary, picking up some flowers and herbs while visibility was still good would be a great use of time. Money is almost as important as experience in Axiom, you might be a high level player, but without the gear to make use of those stats, you might as well be a noob.
