Character Sheet: Act II
Jaquelin “Jaq” Lehrer: Jaq’s never been a big fan of slowing down. When she was little, that just meant she was hard to get dressed before bolting out of the door or tended to get lost when unattended for even a second in department stores. In middle and high school, it meant she tended to fall deeply and rapidly, go way too far way too fast, and watching her relationships dissolve when she realized she didn’t really know the person she’d gotten into bed with. However, since late high school and all throughout college so far, it means she’s deeply interested in politics. To her, every other way to affect the things you don’t like seems achingly tedious. Even with all the waiting and schmoozing and back door dealing, if you want to get something done, you can’t just ask people to listen to you. You have to make them. Jaq took this to heart when applying at Workwick College, studying social sciences and volunteering on local campaigns that caught her interest. Between her focus on bettering her future and her … we’ll say intense demeanor when engaging people in disagreements, Jaq is well-known on campus, if not necessarily well-liked. While most people do enough, between her being pretty, progressive, and naturally charming, the people who she does rub the wrong way tend to feel very strongly about that. Between her extremely diverse ethnic background, pansexuality, and just being a woman, you can imagine the kind of flak these people give her, especially anonymously online or in places they can leave a message without being seen. While this kind of thing deeply bothers her, she tries to not let it get to her or feel too afraid. After all, if she wants to be president some day, a lot worse than that is going to be directed at her. If only she knew.
Jaq’s best friend is her roommate, Eva Tejada, a fellow sophomore she met in prospective tours. The two kept in touch due to being members of some of the same activist groups, though Eva has a notably more anarchic edge than Jaq and less faith the system even CAN be used for good. Eva has a tendency to get herself into trouble willingly, which sometimes frustrates Jaq and sometimes wakes up a protective side to her that hates seeing her friend in potential danger just for standing up against injustice. It was Jaq’s idea to rush Kappa Beta Gamma, Eva mostly coming along thanks to her powerful feelings tied up in Jaq and kind of wanting to see what a train wreck it would be. Train wreck-ness peaked when Jaq vanished from the party last night, entranced by a beautiful stranger who’d struck up conversation with her. After determining if she was a good choice, this stranger put her in a daze and sired her for unknown, but assuredly sinister, reasons. She then left Jaq, dead and waiting to rise, in the shower she and Eva shared with their suitemates. Jaq is a fairly tall girl at 5’8”, her figure slim and athletic, though one couldn’t really call her physical powerful, and with lightly-tanned skin that always seems positively flush with enthusiasm. She cares enough about staying in shape, but getting ripped has never been her priority. While her bustline is fairly modest, she’s considered to have very striking, hazel eyes, an infectious smile, and tremendous presence in conversation. She wears her hair long, to about the middle of her back, though she binds it in a ponytail pretty much whenever she’s going to classes, working out, or researching to keep it out of her eyes or from getting caught in things. While she’s never had an eye for style, she knows it’s important in politics and has let Eva teach her a lot in that regard, though she still refers to the more zeitgeist-attuned Latina for the final word in those matters. She tends to prefer t-shirts and jeans for functionality and efficiency, but sticks to blacks and whites to avoid matching issues when the occasion is more formal or social. Since being sired, Jaq has manifested a few anomalous traits seen in the Kindred, notably being both unable to form or be bound by blood bonds despite the exceptional Generation of her sire (and, by extension, her). After defeating Atlee and freeing the sisters of Kappa Beta Gamma, Jaq’s returned to her original goal of finding her sire to get some answers about why she was turned and the more precise factors of vampiric existence. She’s also JUST in hell about the whole blood bond thing with Eva, and the massive amount of guilt for it isn’t coupling well with the building tension the knowledge and disagreement of its status is causing between them.

Eva Tejada: Eva Tejada is a rabble-rouser, a rascal, and a rebel. Her mother fought tooth and nail to get across the border when she was just a teenager, while her father was a deeply-outspoken anti-war demonstrator until his suicide while imprisoned for aiding and abetting a fugitive in their escape of policy custody when Eva was just eight. Her mother never believed it was suicide, and Eva has some strong doubts there as well. The man her father helped, Sterling Jones, was caught a month after her father’s **** and died in county holding before a trial could determine whether or not he was guilty of the **** of a state trooper. The exact method was … vague. Needless to say, Eva’s fostered a profound disrespect for authority. While often reckless, she is also intelligent, charismatic, and extremely nimble, all things that have assisted her in staying out of jail despite having taken part in many demonstrations of questionable legality. She’s pursuing a law degree at Workwick, trudging through her undergrad material with her eyes sharply focused on being able to put an ability to practice law to work in favor of activist movements campaigning for human rights and justice. Some find her to be irritating in her work, but frankly, she’s not doing it for those people. Her canniness and similar politics with parallel approaches to Jaq is exactly what lead to them getting along in the first place, and Eva especially appreciates it when most of her friends at school are either through volunteer groups (and thus not with much time to socialize with her as a person) or when someone from her hometown is passing through Northwoods. Eva has serious feelings for Jaq, but understands that she has to keep her distance in a romantic sense if Jaq’s right and she is blood bonded. This is incredibly frustrating to her, however, because she flatly refuses to believe she is, and can tell Jaq’s feelings for her run harder than just best friends anymore, too. Eva is petite, cute as a button, and with light brown skin that perfectly accentuates her dark eyes. Her hair is naturally brunette, though a darker shade than it is now with her blonde highlights in, dipping just past her shoulderblades. While her chest would be considered VERY small on someone of an average height, it’s simply about average for her, which is something she has no problem with whatsoever. While tremendously confident about her body and sexuality, Eva is deeply intimidated by genuine romance and tends to go long stretches of commitment broken with equally long stretches of nothing at all. She is, however, far more confident in her wardrobe choices than Jaq. White, oranges, and yellows make up the lion’s share of her colors, usually in daring tops and shorts that fit Northwoods warm weather and even moreso in her native Miami. She’s on the fence about really wanting to FIND Savina, incredibly worried her plans for Jaq are nefarious. She’s fairly certain the older vampire won’t want to just kill her, but has a hard time imagining she’s just some silent benefactor judging by her behavior the night Jaq was turned. While less so, Eva still feels horrendously guilty about Jaq being literally killed when she was supposed to be watching out for her, which is increasingly driving her to make bad decisions to try to make up for it to herself (Jaq honestly doesn’t even sort of hold it against her, which just makes Eva double down on the self-loathing it generates). Also, she has a cat now! Her name is Criatura, she is tiny and black, and she’s HORRIFIED of Jaq!

*Jaquelin Lehrer (best friend, crush, roommate)
*Andrea Pryor (Imbued vampire hunter, friend)
*Kenneth Harper (werewolf, pawn shop owner, tenuous alliance)

*Jonathan Kralik (freshman in same major, white nationalist, frequent opposition at demonstrations)
Andrea "Andy" Pryor: Andy has led an unhappy life, by and large, but is trying to make the most of it with her new gift. Unlike many of the Imbued, she didn't have much to lose from becoming an outcast hunter of the supernatural, allowing her to take to it with some aplomb. She is very cagey, even among other Imbued, to speak on her Imbuing or life before it, but generally greets questioning of it with intentionally obvious lies or sarcasm. While not possessed of a great deal of booksmarts, Andy is nonetheless clever and cunning when it comes to monsters. She is a skilled and improvisational fighter, though her ability to pose a threat in open combat is somewhat limited by her frail, all-too-human body. Her offense, however, is horrific and swift, usually used in tandem with seduction or the appearance of helplessness to try to make her first swing the only one she needs. Having clearly participated in softball at some point (and maybe still does, she's not in a hurry to clarify that, either), she favors bats and balls as weapons, though she uses the tougher baseball varieties on the hunt. Her primary weapon is a bat she whittled herself, which she calls Abe (after Abraham van Helsing). Abe can withstand her Cleave indefinitely and is exceptionally hard to destroy thanks the deeply personal process of creating it and investing Conviction into it. Andy tends to strike first and ask questions later, partially due to her aforementioned awareness of her own fragility compared to her prey and an inherent mistrust for anything inhuman. This is most pronounced with vampires, who she is generally happy to kill regardless of how she meets them. It's unclear where this deep mistrust comes from, but it clearly has roots beyond simple anti-monster prejudice. Andy lives in a derelict house she's made up to look condemned, stealing wi-fi and electricity while relying on the city's inattention to keep water utilities (hey, working so far). What little money she gets, she usually spends on ****, her fairly gothic wardrobe, or tools for hunting monsters. This is usually earned selling pot, fencing things for criminal connections, or whatever she can get off of more human-appearing monsters she slays. Andy has exceptionally pale skin and eyes, the former often accentuated by her choice of makeup with the latter making her stare notably icy when coupled with its blue color. Her hair is naturally a light brown, but little of that is evident in the tangle of blonde and black she has it dyed in, usually worn in a wild, spread-out mane or a tight bun when she thinks things might get actually dangerous. She’s of medium height, though her frequent use of heels often make her look taller than she is, and she prefers blacks and leather above other clothing choices, often showing off her legs regardless of the other details the outfit might have. She is lithe, has a modest chest, and notably powerful, wiry musculature, far stronger than most men her age. She is a little self-conscious of her babyface, giving her a perpetual “college freshman prospective,” look, which is almost definitely part of why she favors heavy gothic make-up and nose, lip, and eyebrow piercings and/or studs to draw a different kind of attention to her face. She’s become a good friend to Eva and Jaq in the weeks after defeating the Atlee fomor, while, unlike the other two, spending a lot of time hanging out with Kenneth Harper at his pawn store.

Known Enemies:

*Captain Ellis Baynes (head of 3rd precinct, frequent arresting officer in youth, deep and mutual hatred)
Atlee Paige: A dangerous sociopath quite literally lacking a soul, Atlee was already a monstrous human being. She engineered sexual assaults, expulsions, and arrests against anyone she felt even a bit out of her control as president of Kappa Beta Gamma. When she attempted to have Jaq assaulted by Kurtis Smythe, Jaq drained her near the point of **** and Eva broke her neck to free Jaq from having killed her alone. Agreeing to host a bane her crimes and reorganization of Kappa had helped grow, she became a fomor after her killers’ escape. Gaining a spiritual side, Atlee began to brainwash her fellow sisters after sexual intercourse to join them into a mental collective. While nominally a hive-mind, Atlee retained enough control that all willing entrants soon became unwilling, if not immediately, but had **** but to remain. She was killed by critical internal damage when she and Jaq engaged in psychic combat, Jaq having tricked her into believing she was giving up and joining, then using her sex ritual to challenge her in her mind. Said damage was caused by Jaq’s Beast disconnecting Atlee’s bane from her, effectively exorcising it. Kenneth Harper destroy, then bound the bane in question, leaving her no chance of return (doubly so since she had no soul).

Weathers-the-Storm: A very old Garou shaman, Weathers-the-Storm usually goes by his human name these days. As Kenneth Harper, he assumes the role of a grumpy, old man who owns a run-down, near-derelict pawn shop called The Last Stop. In reality, he's the last guardian of the city caern, the Caern of Broken Screams, that lays in the sewers just beneath his shop. The local Kindred know to steer clear of this area despite having generally removed the lupine threat from Northwoods decades ago, figuring that since he isn't keen on expanding his territory or hunting them, they can afford to just take the long way on that particular path. The aging Theurge is deeply-attuned to the city's pain and aware something is horribly wrong at Workwick in particular, but can't really investigate it as he's the last of his sept still occupying the city proper. Others have long since died to age or ****, while more than a few of them quit Northwoods altogether after the slaughter of their septmates. This kind of thing leaves Weathers bitter, cynical, and sarcastic to most, though he continues to tend to the ever-weakening spirit hosted in his modest caern as best he can. A Bone Gnawer, he has to rely on innovation and cunning due to an utter lack of funds, though he's skilled enough in spirit relations to have a few fetishes stashed on his person and secreted away beneath his shop. His most commonly used are a Lagomorph's Boon that makes sure luck is on his side, his Fang Dagger, and a unique fetish crafted out of a badly-kept revolver he found in the trash he calls Rusty. Rusty doesn't work ... except when it needs to. At which point it works fantastically. Currently, Weathers is under pressure from local politicians backed by King Breweries to sell so the sinister Pentex subsidiary can set up a microbrewery, but he refuses to abandon his caern, even if it's likely it'll cost him his life. They've been hesitant to attack him so far, given Garou only get old by being cowards or very dangerous, and Weathers is no coward ... but a lone Garou can't hold back the crushing weight of Pentex's many tendrils for long.
