Chapter 10 by falconz499 falconz499

Chapter Meeting

There was only one thing Candice Ibáñez disliked about being President of Delta Mu. And it chapter meetings. With being an unofficial Sorority the founding Sisters had taken a more lax approach to the standard meeting rules that an organization like this one would typically have. Over the years her predecessors had attempted to add some sort of semblance to meeting rules and minutes. The majority of the sisters hated it. Which is why for the sake of keeping the peace Delta Mu had as few full chapter meetings as possible.

The only problem was the recruiting process required getting everyone on the same page about the incoming pledge class. Which required a chapter meeting. Candice could feel the attention of the group start to slip away from the task at hand.

“Look at that smirk on her face. It’s like she’s got a piece of shit under her nose. Can’t stop smelling it.” Cheyanne called out across the room referencing the naked photo that was being projected on the wall.

“We’ll wipe that grin off her face soon enough!” Candice couldn’t see in the dark room who had called out. But it sounded like her fellow senior Maddie.

“Guys we are almost done. Can we let Heather finish introducing her recruit?” A stiff silence followed as Heather resumed speaking from the back of the room where the rest of the officers stood.

“Like I was saying. This is Bruna. Freshman. If her admissions record is to be believed she’s gonna be running this school by the time she leaves. Problem is like you said she’s got an ego the size of Texas.” The dark haired secretary announced to the group.

“Well that just means breaking her in will be all the more fun!” Devon another senior called out.

“Is there anyone opposed to accepting Bruna into the pledge class?” Candice took the silence as an affirmation.

“Next is Chloe’s recruit…” She clicked on the arrow key and the pale naked figure of Bruna was replaced with a distinctly different photo. There was silence in the room.

“Ok so I’ll say it.” The Irish girl Fiona said “she is neither naked or outside of the stall.” The red heads blunt answer brought laughs and a clammer of voices as everyone tried to talk over each other. Someone even started booing. It was true. The tiny girl on the screen was not naked. She was standing in the stall covering herself with her arms as embarrassed as could be. She had on a pale frilly blue bra and a pair of very comfortable looking pink underwear. Based on the angle she hadn’t even taken the photo herself.

“Yes yes!” Candice shouted over the rabble from her 17 other sisters. “The photo is unconventional and doesn’t meet our requirements for recruitment. But we should all hear Chloe out!” Silence again fell over the group as a gorgeous red headed Junior stood up.

“This is Mary-Roslyn. Freshman. As you can see she is very shy.” There was some laughter. “And yes she has not completed her task for admission to recruitment. But. If you give her a chance I have no doubt I will be able to bring her out of her shell.”

“She’s gotta take the photo Chloe. We all did.” It was Daniela from Candice’s right. She was always appreciative of her little and best friend. She unlike the others believed in the rules as well.

“I agree.” Chloe’s response was measured but firm. Uncharacteristic of the normally fiery red head who wasn’t prone to doing things rationally. It was one of the reasons Candice had allowed the girl Mary-Roslyn to reach a full group vote. She’d never seen Chloe so thoughtfully fight for something as she had when she’d first brought the picture to her attention. “And she will have to take it. All I’m asking is we give her a grace period. Give me two weeks and we will have that picture.”

“Two weeks? She won’t even make it through the first weekend!” Devon again. Candice held her breathe. An argument between the sisterhoods two biggest wild cards definitely wouldn’t end well.

“Oh yeah? Wanna bet?” A large ‘Oooo’ went up from the assembly. Bets were not taken lightly by the sisters of Delta Mu. To agree to one was like law in the sisterhood.

“Blue house bet?” The dirty blonde asked of her red headed counterpart.

“Agreed. But the loser, aka you, pays up during a Thursday night power hour.” More Ooo’s

“Done!” Devon stood up and shook Chile’s hand sealing one of theirs fate.

“All that’s fine and good. But it doesn’t fix the problem we have now.” Monica spoke from off in the darkness. Her cold calm voice unmistakable. “You say you’ll have that photo to us in two weeks. Which is fine. But what if you don’t? Like Daniela said we can’t have someone in the recruiting process that won’t take the photo.”

“Simple. If she won’t take the photo we kick her out. And I submit myself for reprimand and punishment.”

This didn’t elicit any cheers. To be reprimanded and punished by the sorority was rare. It typically only happened in cases where someone really fucked up. The punishment was either determined by the sorority officers or as was more typical by the person in the sorority who had been wronged.

“That’s fine. But in my opinion by her not taking that photo she wrongs everyone who has ever taken it. And you should face a punishment from each sister and recruit.” Monica kept the room in stunned silence. 27 punishments was unheard of.

“Monica It’ll remind you that punishments are determined by the officers of the sorority. Which you are not.” Candice didn’t relish putting Monica in her place like that. Despite her and Daniela’s rivalry Candice had always tried to remain neutral.

“No. She’s right. And if Mary-Roslyn won’t take the photo then I will happily accept that sentence.” There was Chloe's trademark recklessness Candice thought.

“Ok ok. We’ve heard the presentation. Is anyone opposed to accepting Mary-Roslyn on a probationary basis for two weeks?” Chloe’s gamble had convinced the group. She really hoped for the girls sake that she could get the quiet shy girl out of her shell.

“Ok. And finally…” Blair’s picture appeared on screen to some wolf whistles from the group. Candice had strategically placed her last after Mary-Roslyn to hopefully limit debate and get her out of the way for Daniela fast. Much to her surprise it worked. There wasn’t even a crude comment from Monica in the corner.

“Alright. Now the only thing left to do is to select a pledge coordinator. As a reminder this cannot be someone who is already and officer. Do I have any nominations?” There was an small silence as everyone waited for the inevitable. Cheyanne spoke.

“I nominate Monica!”

There was a brief murmuring and a quick vote confirming the honor onto her. Candice wasn’t surprised. Pledge Coordinator was a pretty thankless job considering all the work that went into it. She herself had done it her Sophomore year. Monica was the perfect fit for it. Even very clearly wanted it. What was surprising was that Daniela also seemed to want her to do it.

“Well that went according to plan.” The auburn haired girl whispered to her mentor as the basement cleared out and Candice started to break down the projector.

“Like I said. I don’t want to know and can’t get involved… but I sure hope you know what you’re doing.” Candice was quite aware of the power struggle for her position that was about to take place between the two girls. And it made her nervous. Delta Mu had never had a President that wasn’t elected unanimously.

“Oh don’t worry. I do.”
