Chapter 32: Goals

(Elisa POV)

Charlotte's punishment was clearly not as bad as anticipated, at least if it wasn't Dakota setting Charlotte's goals.

“10 minutes?” questioned Charlotte, who looked tense and stressed.

"It's okay, Charlotte. It's not that complicated. First of all, calm down. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Come with me. Breathe in and out,” said Anna, staring into Charlotte's eyes, who imitated her and quickly calmed down.

"Wow, she calmed down instantly. How did you do that?” asked Iris.

"It's simple: she just deprived the brain of oxygen, which prevented her from continuing to panic. Elementary biology” replied Karine.

“I agree that it's important for her to calm down, but we mustn't waste time,” said William.

"I agree with you William, otherwise we can be sure we'll regret it. So, let's skip the basic question of what goal you'd like and just present our goal ideas. If you don't have an idea for Charlotte, then tell us about some of your own goals, which will undoubtedly inspire the others,” Anna ordered the restaurateur.

It took Elisa a few moments to realize that Anna was talking to her, and then a few more seconds to understand what was being asked of her. She thought for a moment, what could Charlotte possibly want? It wasn't as if she really knew her. She'd only met her less than 48 hours ago and they hadn't even had a chance to have a real conversation yet.

“Uh I'm not sure but I guess she could choose as her objective to avoid getting punished by the show again.” offered Elisa.

She really wasn't sure about this proposal, but it seemed a pretty foolproof choice.

"Oh, that's a good idea. Excellent. Is Charlotte your first objective?” asked Anna, urging the policewoman to answer.

"I don't know. Yes.” replied Charlotte, still confused.

“She'd have to form the lens herself for it to be valid,” Dakota commented with a smile. This demon probably had some other twisted plan in mind.

"Okay. No problem. Go ahead Charlotte.” said Anna still urging Charlotte to provide a quick answer.

"Uh, okay. My first objective will be to avoid getting punished again.” said Charlotte.

Anna seemed to blink for a moment, then spoke again.

"Okay, that wasn't exactly what Elisa had said, but it doesn't matter, the most important thing is here. Nicole, do you have any ideas?” asked Bunnygirl.

“She could learn to make her own choices, for example, and not need to be told what to do,” replied the future doctor sarcastically, displaying as much compassion as cancer.

"Please save that kind of remark for when we're no longer limited by time. Helene, it's your turn and try to be more constructive than Nicole,” replied Anna.

"I don't really know Charlotte, and none of us really know the others, so it might be a good idea to get to know each other. It's important that there's a good understanding in Mr Hamon's harem, otherwise he'll be worried and annoyed” said Hélène.

Frankly, the proposal was a good one, right down to the justification, which was pure Hélène. Hélène was undoubtedly the most delighted to be taking part in this show, not that it was very difficult.

"I guess the basic idea isn't so bad, even if the justification was crap. I think you have to listen to Iris first. Iris, do you have any ideas?” asked Anna.

"If she could continue to make this show exciting, that would be great, but since she's going to try to avoid being punished, it would be contradictory. She could sleep with William, which would make a great article, or maybe with another contestant, or even better, she could surprise us again. There's nothing like the unexpected,” exclaimed Iris.

Anna couldn't hold back a sigh before turning to Karine.

“Please tell me you have better ideas,” said Anna.

"I suppose she could set herself the goal of being happy, but that would probably be risky given Charlotte's character. For my part, I try to keep physically fit. As a policewoman, maybe Charlotte could share that goal. Would you like to work out with me every day?” Karine asked Charlotte.

"Yes, I would. I mean, yes, I'd go and play sports with you. My second goal is to stay physically fit,” said Charlotte.

"Okay, great, more than a goal. Charlotte, did it help you come up with your own ideas?” asked Anna.

"Yes, I think I've come up with an idea. My third goal is to thank you all properly for your help during this difficult time. Especially you, Anna,” said Charlotte.

"Frankly, I don't think it was a good idea to choose this objective, but I think it's too late to change. Am I wrong?” asked Anna, turning to Dakota.

"Obviously it's too late to change them. So, I'll summarize your three objectives that neither you nor the master will be able to change before the end of the round. First goal: Avoid getting punished. Second goal: Stay physically fit. Third goal: To thank those present properly for their help during this difficult time.” said Dakota.

These were certainly not the goals Elisa would have chosen, but they were generally good ones. Elisa found it hard to understand why Anna thought they were bad goals.

“And now that we've finished with Charlotte's punishment, we can move on to Marion's,” said Dakota.

"Dakota, please. I understand that Marion was probably not a good person and I agree to transform her to prevent this situation from happening again, but please don't eliminate her. No one deserves that,” William interrupted, begging Dakota to spare Marion.

"It's funny you should mention elimination, because I had a problem during the vote. Half the voters were for Marion's elimination and the other half for her not to be eliminated. You'll tell me that's not possible because there was an odd number of voters. Yes, but you see the audience made a perfect equality between eliminating Marion and just punishing her severely. So, I'm in a quandary: should I eliminate Marion? Should I not eliminate her? Either way, I'd be disappointing the audience, and that's not acceptable. So, I had a brilliant idea. I'm going to eliminate Marion and I'm not going to eliminate her,” Dakota declared.

"What? That doesn't make any sense!” exclaimed Karine, stating loud and clear what everyone else was thinking.

“This will soon make sense, but first here's the elimination and non-elimination transformation I've chosen” said Dakota before displaying the transformation.

Half-jinchuriki, Half-candidate: in just two days, Marion has managed to become one of the most hated characters in Harem Hôtel history, right behind the mothers who abandon their children. She won't break the record for the fastest eliminated contestant, but she will be the first half-eliminated. What does that mean anyway? Marion's themes are Kurama, Madara and Hiruzen. Here, we'll concentrate on the nine-tailed fox. At Naruto's birth, Kyubi is divided into 2 parts Yin & Yang by Minato and one half is sealed in Naruto. This is what's going to happen to Marion. She will be divided into 2 Yin & Yang parts and one half will be sealed in William. The half sealed in William will have access to William's senses but will not be able to communicate with him, a prisoner forever condemned to see the life she has deprived herself of. Like Kyubi for Naruto, the sealed half won't have any use, but will reinforce William's stamina and vitality. As for the free half, it will continue to participate in the Harem.

Elisa wasn't sure what to make of this transformation. What did it all mean? Marion was staying with them and leaving at the same time?

"You can't do that. You're condemning her to eternal hell. No one deserves that.” exclaimed William.

"Oh wait, I'm about to shed a tear. Actually, no, I chose this transformation and it's going to be this transformation. I make the rules. But don't worry, you still have a role to play. You get to decide which character trait each half gets. For example, you can decide which one will be aggressive and which one will be non-violent. I've selected 12 pairs of traits for you to assign. Here they are,” says Dakota, before displaying the choices for all to see.
