Chapter 29 but why?

(Marion POV)

Marion hadn't even been able to protest when Dakota had petrified her. Well, no, she had protested, but her inability to move had prevented her from uttering the slightest sound.

“How long do you think it'll take?” asked Charlotte.

“Normally, a deliberation can take several hours or even days in the most serious cases, but I doubt it will take that long in this case,” replied Anna.

“Do you think they'll find Marion guilty?” asked William hesitantly.

“That's not the question. The only question worth asking is whether she can avoid elimination,” said Francisco.

“Would he really dare to do that?” asked Charlotte.

“If it were up to the audience, I wouldn't even hesitate to answer, but then there are the other candidates. I don't know if they'd dare condemn her to elimination” said Francisco.

“By the way, do any of you know what elimination is?” asked Charlotte.

Anna and William nodded, while Francisco looked thoughtful.

“From what I can tell from the information that was loaded into my mind the moment I arrived here, elimination consists of an **** transformation of the person concerned. _“Do you have any ideas about what you might want as a transformation, Charlotte?” _asked Anna.

_“None at all. I don't want any transformation,” _exclaimed Charlotte.

“I've had a boyfriend, but we broke up 3 years ago because I was spending too much time at work and couldn't find time for him,” answered Charlotte.

_“What about sex?” _insisted the lawyer.

“I promised my mother I wouldn't have sex until I was married,” replied Charlotte.

_“Wow, I didn't think you was that religious,” _says Anna.

“I'm not, but my parents are. They didn't want me to join the police **** and don't really approve of my career choice. They're not fundamentalists, but they would have much preferred me to have a quieter job with more stable hours. To get my parents to accept my decision, I had to make this promise to my mother,” says Charlotte.

“And are you going to keep that promise?” asked Anna.

_“What's the point of making promises if you're not going to keep them? I must admit that I never imagined I'd end up in this situation when I made the promise. I didn't have a boyfriend at the time and sex was really the least of my worries,” _says Charlotte.

_“And so you didn't have sex with your boyfriend,” _says Francisco.

_“And you think you can keep that promise in this show?” _asked Anna.

_“I don't know,” _replied Charlotte.

Charlotte didn't reply. She too had arrived at this solution, but just because she'd found it didn't mean she was going to put it into practice right away. William was undoubtedly a good man, but he was first and foremost a perfect stranger.

“How do you expect me to answer that question?” replied Charlotte, who seemed intent on burying her head in the sand and denying the existence of the problem.

“Anna! I can't do that,” said William.

Marion couldn't help imagining the scenes described by her lawyer. It was really hot and exciting, and at first sight it excited William and Anna too. Only Charlotte seemed genuinely horrified by Francisco's words.

“I would never do that without their consent,” William replied.

“Oh, you didn't answer that you would never do that. So I can only conclude that if you had their consent, you would?” replied Francisco.

William didn't know what to say to that.

“Leave him Francisco. William, calm down. I don't think we'll get anywhere anyway. I suggest we change the subject completely. Marion will undoubtedly be found guilty. How do you plan to turn her?” Anna asked.

_“I don't know, I don't know her. Can you tell us a little about her, Francisco?” _asked William.

“What can I say about Marion? I've known her since the beginning of my career. Her father's the town mafia boss. She's been spoiled rotten since she was born. _“William, in order to live in society, society imposes limits on our free will.
