Chapter 2: Working as a laboratory assisstant

Opening the door, Mark met with the dean, Dr. Rose Lakewood. Although she was in her mid fifties, the dean had managed to keep her appearance a decade younger.

While Mark had never been in more than a month long relationship, it never stopped him from thinking twice before flirting with the next girl. While his good looks and prestigious family background gave him a boost over others, his zealous attitude of checking out every other girl in his vision apart from his significant other left him with an impression of a horndog. His feelings towards the dean sitting in front of him were no less.

Dressed proffessionaly in a dark olive pantsuit, she sat behind a large oak desk skimming through documents before stopping to take a glance at Mark.

"Sit. So Mr Mark, I heard from your professor that you bullied your classmate from attending classes. And also you yourself seem to be slacking off at class. Anything you wish to say?"

"If you are talking about Sarah, I've never bullied or hurt her. I just know her as a former classmate. You see, there was an incident earlier which left her in an embarrassing situation in public. After that she started acting like that in front of us." Mark explained leaving out his involvement which lead to the situation. "I really have not done anything. Heck, I have not even spoken to her once in class."

"hmm.."

"And as for me slacking off, I think there is some misunderstanding."

"misunderstanding?"

"Yes. I... I wasn't keeping well at the time."

"and now you are?"

"Feeling much better, as you can see."

"Mr Mark-"

Interuppting Rose, the door opened, walking in a girl wearing a lab coat and drenched in sweat.

"Miss Amy Dale... what brings you in here? and next time please enter after getting permission. I can't overlook your behavior just because you're a honors student. "

"Next time definitely madam dean. I rushed here to get a lab assistant."

"Put up a notice if you want a lab assistant."

"Well you know how long it could take. Besides I heard there was someone readily available." Amy spoke glancing at Mark who continued to gawk at her. "I just want someone to help me move equipment around. No background knowledge needed."

"hmm... if you insist, sure. Mr Mark, you will attend as a lab assisstant for Miss Amy Dale until the end of the semester. I hope the next time you enter this room, it won't be for something troublesome. Now leave, both of you."

Exiting the dean's office Mark followed the tall spectacled brunnette. Her brown eyes behind the thick rimmed spectacles seemed to examine him every now and then. While Mark wasn't new to having girls eyeing him, he couldn't help but think of her face resembling someone he knows.

"So Mark, you are from the arts department?"

"Ah, yes..."

"..you know it's not good to stare"

"Sorry.. Have we met before? I feel like I have seen you somewhere before."

"is it? I hope you don't try that line on all the girls"

After making some small talk, they finally arrived in front of the bio chemistry lab where Amy did her research.

After helping her move some equipment around Mark sat idly on one of the stools before opening and gulping down one of the soda bottle that had its sticker peeled off.
