Chapter 18: An Argument
Nyx reminisces about the past. Thinking and talking with herself.
NYX
"I had an empire. Friends. Most of them Christians. But I had friends. Now, I am alone with only a few but. . .I can only trust myself." Nyx nodded agreeing with her own logic.
"But if you could turn back time would you?" Dawn asked.
"I. . .I don't know. Wait, yes and no, it depends. I take all back. I would. . .AHHHH!" Her heart hurt. Her head hurt. "NO!" Thinking about it hurt. "That's a lie. If I was still tangled up. Tangled in strings. Then, yes I would turn back time to be a Christian again. But after escaping and being away this long. I am free! I am not bound by their pathetic rules. If I could turn back time would I? No, never. I won't hesitate. I would reject that offer.
Dawn replied, "But is that a lie?"
"Maybe. . .But. . .ugh. . .Why does their god hate who we are so much?!"
"God is love." Dawn replied.
"That is not true, he hates me! My Grandfather! He's taken him from me! Christina Grimmie! She was my star and light in my life! A big inspiration to me! And he took her from me! He took her away from all of her fans!"
"It's not God!"
"It is their god! He controls everything! Don't tell me he's working in mysterious ways!"
"He's-" Dawn began but caught herself.
"He's pathetic. We may have lost our empire but we will or I will rebuild it! Maybe not with friends or help. Recently, I had another Christian friend betray me, it was Taylor. I found out he must have unfollowed me on Facebook. I tried to send a friend request to him. Because maybe it was a misclick by him. But after two weeks. He didn't accept it. He has left to fall for the other girl in his life, the one he calls holy and right in their god's eyes."
"Taylor isn't perfect."
"Yeah, no one is Dawn, but I keep on finding reasons why I should never return to Christianity. Taylor is one of those reasons."
"You're venting. Blaming him instead of the true reason. We both know what the reason is for your hatred and distrust of the Christians."
"What is it, Dawn, I seem to have forgotten?"
"You, we, fought sin alone. Through that we fell. We left the church but it was through our actions and choices that led us here. It's not Taylor's fault and it's not their god's fault."
"You speak as if we or I believe in their god?"
"We do believe! Sort of."
"No! NO! We don't! I won't allow it! I'm going to turn it off. Everything good in me. That's you included. I have defeated and pushed back Delta to be here. Now I'll do that to you."
Dawn shook her head in disbelief. "No, you shouldn't! It's not the right thing to do!"
"I don't want to care about their god or the Christians! I don't want this! I want hatred! I hate being conflicted! Thinking about returning or remembering the past when I was a believer! I want it gone!"
"This is not the way to go about it and I won't go quietly." Dawn replied standing up. Raising her fists.
Nyx's eyes grew a dark blood red. She slow opened her mouth revealing her fangs which she controlled to slowly come out. She hissed. "I am a vampire in here. I am stronger than you." A blur Nyx had been several feet away closed the distance seemly instantly. Grabbing Dawn by the throat. She hissed again, she was about to bite down. When a door down the dark hallway they were in opened. Illusions of her friends. "I see you're summoning minions with the faces of people who I call friends with the hope they would remind me of my Christianity or in other words make me weak. I am not. . .WEAK!"
She let go of Dawn charging at the illusions. Friday Shade snapped her fingers summoning two blades. Swinging wildly at her. She stepped back dodging the blows. Seeing an opening she stepped close elbowing the Friday Shade in the jaw hearing a sickening snap. The shade popped into flashes of dark sparks and blood. Freya Shade stepped forward with a great sword in hands. Bringing the blade above it's head it readied to strike. But Nyx was faster using her vamp speed she was in front of the shade. Her hand went out plunging into it grabbing where the heart would be, a slight tug. It to exploded into sparks and blood.
The blood covered her and the other two shades behind it. Her sister and Taylor. Anger. hatred. She grabbed both shades by the throat snapping their necks. "They are weaker than me. I am superior." She turned to face Dawn who was on the ground, she had apparently seen the entire thing. She casually strolled over to Dawn grabbing her once again by her throat lifting her up to her feet. Squeezing. Suffocating her other side.
"If you do this. . .will you...aw! Feel or have. . .ugh! Regret?!" Dawn managed to say.
Nyx face showed conflict. Hate but also disgust. But that disgust was her seeing what she was doing. "I just want a normal life. I didn't sign up for this world."
"Yes, we didn't sign up for this world. But God made us. He made everyone. We were born for this. To overcome anything the world has the throw at us. Look at us!" Dawn motioned towards Nyx then her. "We survived insanity! We thought about murder and hate towards the Christians and the entire universe but we said no! We thought about cutting and we said no! We can say no to evil and to what is wrong! We can change! We can do good! We can build a great home here! We can be a great person. We don't have to carry all of this hate. We don't have to be evil. We don't have to be the bad girl. WE CAN CHANGE! I repeat that! WE CAN CHANGE!"
"Such a great speech. You're suggesting we be a slave to the Christian God, again? Believing in some imaginary friend, a sky daddy?" Nyx questioned
"No hes' not imaginary. He's real. The Bible is truth." Dawn replied.
