Chapter 6 by takacube takacube

What's next?

Changes to living conditions

"...you're lucky to be young when this happened," Dr. Saunders quickly finished his last bit of checks to your ribs before he finished making the notes in your chart and placed it down next to you. "You'll be in the hospital for another week but once that happens, you'll be in a good position to be discharged with minor discomfort. Mostly, though, you'll be on crutches and need help around the house."

You nodded, noticing that your dad sat in the background, a bit quiet and subdued, though you supposed it had as much to do with the sudden embarrassment she was feeling having become so emotional in seeing you and not knowing really where to start in the conversation. There were many things to say, that was for sure. "And Dad...?"

Saunders looked back at your father and nodded. "She's actually doing okay, she's ready for discharge in about an hour, her parents are coming to pick her up."

"O-Oh, I see..." you felt a bit crestfallen at the sound of things and both the doctor and the nurse placed reassuring hands on your shoulders. Your dad turned her head away and brushed some tears from her eyes. "I guess that's for the best, huh?"

Saunders nodded. "Her parents don't know about the transplant. They know she was in a car accident and that it was pretty bad but they didn't know about the brain **** that occurred. We figured that, as a 19 year-old, she can tell her parents about it if she wishes to." She won't, was the common thought among all of you in the room. "It's best to keep it quiet too, for your sake as well as hers."

You nodded at that and after a last check, Saunders stepped out of the room to update his notes. The nurse made sure that you were comfortable before she turned and looked at your father with a bit of a disapproving look. "Be careful. Tim's dealing with some fractured ribs. A hug, no matter how well intentioned, could hurt him more, okay?"

"Yes..." she replied meekly.

After she stepped out, the door closed behind her, and you looked at your dad for a few moments. "So...you're going to be living with her parents for the next year?"

Dad sighed and nodded. "I mean, I can't just go out and not, right? They think that I'm in a bad accident, needed hospitalization, but that I'm otherwise fine. All thanks to you, though." Your eyebrow raise caused her to laugh a little, the giggle causing an ample bounce in her breasts that you enjoyed very much from your angle but you digressed. "The doctors told them how you had managed to shield me from the pile-up with your car, and you, taking the blows. I think that's the first time I heard a man like Mr. Zawatsky break down."

You knew the man, not that well, but you have seen him. He's a tall, burly, big sort of fellow that did some landscaping design. Rumor had it that he served in the Mossad, though what was real and what wasn't when it came to Mossad was beyond your kin. You just looked at the man and begged him not to hurt you. No, seeing someone like that crying, it was hard to imagine.

"But, anyway, I'm going to be staying with them and going back to school. Yay..." She looked at you. "I mean, you will be okay?"

You looked at your ribs and the bandages on your arms and head and then back at him with a puzzled expression. She immediately blushed, something else that was new, and looked back down. "Of course not..."

Her parents arrive in the room early
