Cautiously

"Are, are you making fun of me?" you stutter.

"Absolutely not!" protests Black Canary.

"I would never!" agrees Zatanna.

"Uh...." Wonder Woman flounders for a moment, then brightens up. "Here, I'll prove I'm serious!" She turns around and wiggles her ass at you. "Go ahead, take a long look!" She actually looks more ridiculous than sexy, but her intent is clear.

"Um, are you going to do anything about the rest of the prisoners?" you ask, gesturing to the unopened pods.

"Oh, they can wait," Power Girl says. "We've got plenty of time to get to know each other." This, even more than their seductive behavior, shows that something is wrong with the heroines. Under normal circumstances, they would never ignore potentially suffering victims.

"Well, that's friendly of you," you say, "But really, I do think that you should do something about them." Inspiration strikes. "And real heroism -- not just fighting bad guys, but actually helping people -- is something I find very attractive in a woman."

Immediately, Zatanna and Black Canary release you and turn to help the other prisoners. "You're right," they agree in unison. Power Girl gets a determined look in her eye for a moment before becoming an invisible blur, moving far too fast for your eyes to follow, heading from pod to pod and prisoner to prisoner. Wonder Woman looks startled for a moment but scurries to follow.

With Power Girl's speed and Zatanna's magic, the prisoners -- former prisoners, you correct yourself -- are soon dealt with. The four women immediately gather before you with hopeful smiles. "Thank you for your assistance," Power Girl says loudly to the other three, glancing sideways at you to make sure you're listening. "Of course, I rescued far more prisoners than any of you, but every little bit helps."

"Pulled more from the pods, maybe," Zatanna retorts. "But that was really all you did. I had to heal them."

"Yes, you're all very lucky," says Black Canary. "You all have powers that can help in this situation. For me, though, I have to work harder than any of you to help. But I do it anyway, because that's what heroines do."

Wonder Woman has apparently been ignoring this whole conversation, absent-mindedly fiddling with the end of her lasso. She looks at you with heavy-lidded eyes. "Thank you for reminding us of our duty, John," she says. Briefly, you wonder how she knows your name, but realize it was written on your pod. "I've always said that many of the greatest heroes don't wear costumes, and it looks like you're one of those." With elaborate casualness, she reaches out to pat you on the shoulder with the hand still holding the end of her lasso.

For saying that helping prisoners is more important than flirting? you think.

"When you told me that you find heroism attractive, it really reminded me of what I should be doing." Nonchalantly, she releases her lasso -- the lasso that compels any held by it to speak the truth -- so that it drapes across your shoulder. "Incidentally, and just out of curiosity, what else do you look for in a woman?" she asks innocently.
