Chapter 7 by Molotov989

The problem with Goat-men

Caution (axe men)

"Have our Axe-men assemble", you order Gunther, "and ask for volunteers from the village who know the woods. we don't want to get lost or end up in an ambush."

"As you will sire." He bows and then takes his leave. Turning your attention to Soran the wizard you ask,

"It will take Gunther some time to assemble the men, I need you Soran to go to your tower and find what you can about the forests. look through the old tales, the written scriptures, anything that might mention 'beast men' or devils or anything of the sort."

With a nod the wizard takes his leave.

It is approaching nightfall when all is prepared. Gunther true to his command had formed a considerable unit, of around 180 able axe men, and around 20 villagers who could lead the way. These volunteers had come from the loggers who worked in the forest prior to the attacks, and some were eager enough to take up arms against the creatures that stood in wait inside.

Torches had been lit by the time Soran had returned, but his news was worth it.

"They are called Goat-men my liege, and the tales tell how they would only fight if they believed they could win. If in doubt, they would raise the forest itself with playful song to rise up and attack any intruders."

Gunther, with a doubtful glance, asked "Are we to enter my lord? or wait until day break? I do not think any merchant would be foolish enough to travel by nightfall, and these conditions do not favour us."

200 eyes looked at you for the answer.

Enter the forest at nightfall or not?
