Catching up with old friends!

You, Tegan, and Emma had made plans to head out to a bar and catch up. It'd been a while since you'd seen her (your wedding, in fact!) and you were excited to see her again. Sure, the two of you kept up by texting, but being in-person was different.

The first thing she did when she saw you was run up and give you a big hug. She practically clung to you for a moment, "ahhh, John, it's been too long! I've missed you!" Over your shoulder she smiled and waved at Tegan, "hey, girl! Good to see you, too!"

"Yea... If you guys are done, how about we head in?" Tegan asked with a hint of annoyance in her voice.

The three of you went inside and took your seats, you and Tegan next to each other while Emma was across from you. The two of you reminisced about your childhood, filled each other in on college and work, and fell back into your old habits. Talking to her was so easy... You missed this.

Tegan, fed up with being the third wheel, decided to head home early. "Mind taking him home, Emma? I'm not feeling great, so I think I'm gonna head home early."

"Are you sure?" You asked, rubbing her back. "I can take you home if you need me to."

Tegan smiled; you volunteering to take her home made her feel important. "No, no. It's fine. You too keep catching up. I'll see you when you get home." She made a show of kissing you on the lips, something that did not slip Emma's notice, and then left.

But now, it was just you and Emma. Not that she'd planned this so early, but with Tegan gone, she could start working on her plan. She wasn't going to let you slip by again.
