Carlos shot Luis in the shoulder at that moment, wounding him.
"You stupid pendejo," Luis cursed. "If you're going to take a shot at the king..." He leaned out for the killing blow, and just then he was shot in the face. Carlos went over to Carrie, undoing her bonds.
"No wonder he didn't want to solve the case," Luis said, looking at his partner with regrets. "Motherfucker."
"Carlos ..." Carrie murmured, overcome.
"Come on, let's call this in. Then I want you to show me how appreciative you are to your new savior."
